Agricultural Waste Products

Agricultural waste is waste produced at agricultural premises as a result of an agricultural activity. This definition does not include waste produced at sites such as riding stables, equine centres, farm shops, kennels and animal parks.  Agro processing can be defined as set of techno economic activities carried out for preservation and treatment of agricultural produce and to make it useful as food, feed, fibre, fuel or manufacturing objects . A common and traditional definition of agro processing industry refers to the subset of manufacturing that processes raw materials and intermediate products derived from the agricultural sector. The major component of agro-industrial activities in both industrialized and developing countries is composed of the food, beverages and tobacco industry.  Waste exemptions relate to different types of activities carried out by a range of different industries. The ever-growing supplies of agricultural produce, needed by industry and trade, have been provided either by taking up new land or by the purchase of artificial manures. The agro processing is functional to all the produces, originating from agricultural farm, livestock, aqua cultural sources and forests for their preservation, treatment and value-addition to make them serviceable as food, feed, fibre, fuel or industrial raw materials.

Types of waste are - packaging, sealage plastic, Tyres, old fencing, scrap metal, redundant machinery, net wrap, batteries oils, building waste.


Agro processing has recently emerged as the dawn sector of the Indian economy with its enormous prospective for growth and direct assistance to economic aspect especially on employment and income generation. India’s share in world trade of processed food is 1.6%, and value addition is 20%.It is estimated that a 1%increase in irrigated area generates a 1.6% increase in crop output and a RoI of India, a meager number of 3 per cent of the work force finds employment in this sector revealing its underdeveloped state and vast untapped potential for employment.
