The steel industry in India has been moving from strength to strength. India has emerged as the fourth largest producer of steel in the world and the second largest producer of crude steel. Steel production reached 28.52 million tonne (MT). India’s steel industry has some advantages i.e. sufficient availability of raw materials, particularly quality iron-ore, a rich skill base and an expanding market.

Long products constitute almost half of the annual steel production, which stands at 53 million tonnes presently. Industry estimates show that the construction sector alone consumes close to 45 per cent of the total long products output. Stainless steel accounts for only 3 per cent of the country’s total steel production and about 70 per cent finds application in kitchenware and the rest in industries. The demand for flat steel products will be strong, with rising production of automobiles as automobile sales have risen an annual 15%. Steel along with iron has a weight of 3.64 per cent in the wholesale price index. The present index of basic metal and alloy recorded an 8.55% growth rate. Production of bars and rods recorded 19.67% growth rate and steel wires recorded 11.11% growth rate.India’s steel production is likely to surpass the domestic requirement by 2011-2012, easing pressure on price of the alloy. Other allied steel products are HR coils, CR coils, and HDG coil.etc. End users sector like auto, consumer durables, construction and electricity have all shown steady growth in recent years and Indian steel import figure further provides evidence of strong domestic demand.

Major players in the steel sectors are Steel Authority of India (SAIL), RINL, TataSteel, JSW Steel, Essar Steel and Bhushan Steel, Jindal Saw, JSL, Usha Martin, Uttam Galva, PSL, Ajmera Realty, etc.

India’s steel industry is the happening place in 2010 with global gins in the field showing keen interest in setting shop in India. India is poised to take a big leap in steel capacity creation. By 2015-16, it may become world’s second largest steel producer. The National Steel Policy has a target for taking steel production up to 110 MT by 2019–20. Nonetheless, with the current rate of ongoing greenfield and brownfield projects, the Ministry of Steel has projected India's steel capacity is expected to touch 124.06 MT by 2011–12. In fact, based on the status of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed by the private producers with the various state governments, India's steel capacity is likely to be 293 MT by 2020.

BUTT WELDED CARBON STEEL FITTING AND STEEL FLANGES - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunity

Butt welded steel pipe fittings are extensively used in a piping system to change direction or function which is mechanically used to the system. The main types of fittings are, various types of elbows, bends, reducers, cross and cap etc. A pipe fitting is defined as a part used in a piping system to change direction or function, which is mechanically joined to the system. Butt joints in pipe work are normally welded by the metal arc process, but argon arc and semi automatic methods are used when appropriate. Pipe flanges are used as couplings to join lengths of pipe. Traditionally there have been two main types of flanges. Butt-weld i.e. weld neck for very high pressure and slip on flanges for the medium and low pressure. However in the past few years more companies are using the slip on variety of flanges. Even for very high pressures. The reason for this is the high and consistent quality of steel plate, and also the cost. The most common facings machined on flanges are: (a) Raised face (b) Flat face (c) Ring face The growth in power sector, oil and natural gas shipping urban water supply and water sewage disposal and chemical and petrochemical industry will result in increased damage for pipe fitting and flanges. Forge flanges/pipe fitting at high temperature/pressure will be required while at low pressure/temperature, fabricated flanges/fittings will be required such as urban water supply/sewage disposal and various industrial applications. There is quantum in power generation during 12th plan (2012 to 2017) by addition capacity of over 20,000 MW. Similarly in oil and gas sector and urban infrastructure, chemical and petrochemical there is faster growth which shall generate considerable demand for these items. There is a very good scope and demand for such products and new entrepreneurs should venture into this field.

Profile: A fastener is a hardware device that mechanically joins or affixes two or more objects together. Fasteners mainly cover nuts, bolts, screws, studs and rivets and are segmented between MS (mild steel) and HT (high tensile) fasteners. These fasteners are used in engineering systems. All types of fasteners, except high tensile and special type fasteners, are reserved for the SSI sector. Bolt is cylindrical piece of metal that fasten objects together. It is a piece of steel forged at one end to make hexagonal, square or round head and the shank fully or partially threaded at the other end. Nut is hexagonal or square piece with a threaded hole at the center. Bolts and nuts can be zinc or cadmium plating to resist corrosion. Application: • Bolt and nut are used to fasten together loose parts mainly in industries and workshops. • In construction connectors between structural members bolt connections are used when it is necessary to fasten two elements tightly together. • Threaded metal bolts are always used in conjunction with nuts. • Another threaded partner is screw, which has countless application especially for wood construction. • The wood screw carves a mating thread in the wood, ensuring the tight fit. • Pins are used to keep two or more elements in alignment; since the pin is not threaded, it allows for rational movement, as in machinery parts. The general applications of various objects having screw threads are: Fastening: screws, nut-bolts and studs having screw threads are used for temporarily fixing one part on to another part Joining: e.g., co axial joining of rods, tubes etc. by external and internal screw threads at their ends or separate adapters Clamping: strongly holding an object by a threaded rod, e.g., in c clamps, vices, tailstock on lathe bed etc Indian Scenario: The Indian Fastener Industry is estimated to have a domestic market of around INR 1500 crore. Automobile industry is the biggest consumer of fasteners. Mild steel fasteners are primarily manufactured by the unorganized sector while the high tensile fasteners require superior technology and dominated by companies in the organized sector. The organized sector commands nearly 70 percent of the fasteners market while the rest is controlled by the unorganized sector and imports. Global Scenario: Global demand for industrial fasteners is projected to increase 4.8 per cent annually to US$ 66 billion in 2012. All types of fasteners, except high tensile and special type fasteners, are reserved for the SSI sector. Total market size of the fastener industry is estimated at around €272m in revenues. Fasteners market can be classified into mild steel (MS) and high tensile (HT) fasteners. MS fasteners constitute about 30% of the market size and are mainly produced by the unorganized sector, while HT fasteners are produced primarily by the organized sector. Automobile sector is the major demand driver for the bearing industry and constitutes almost 50% of the total demand in value terms. The bearings industry consists of bimetal bearings and anti friction bearings. The anti friction bearings comprise €270 360 mn of the bearings market and bimetal bearings comprise the rest of the market. Imports comprise approximately 25 to 30% of the total market. Therefore the scope for this product is very bright. An entrepreneur venturing into this project will find it very lucrative.

Cast Iron Earth Pipes with Flanges - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities

Most of the old Cast Iron pipes are cast vertically but this type has been largely superseded by spun iron type manufactured up to a diameter of 900 mm. Though the cast iron pipe has the disadvantages of heavy weight, and consequent high transport costs, short length, leading to higher laying and jointing cost, low tensile strength, liability to defect of inner surface, it is widely used because of its good lasting qualities. There are many examples of cast iron mains in this country which continue to give satisfactory services even after a century of use. Cast of Iron pipes and fittings are being made in this country for more than a century. The production capacity exceeds more than 3,00,000 tons per annum. Due to its strength and corrosion resistance, C.I. pipes can be used in soils and for water of slightly aggressive character. They are well suited for pressure mains and laterals where tapping are made for house connections. It is preferable to have coating inside and outside of the pipe. Pipe flanges are protruding rims, edges, ribs, or collars used to make a connection between two pipes or between a pipe and any type of fitting or equipment component. Pipe flanges are used for dismantling piping systems, temporary or mobile installations, transitions between dissimilar materials, and connections in environments not conducive to solvent cementing. Uses & Applications Cast iron soil pipe and fittings are used primarily in building construction for sanitary and storm drain, waste, and vent piping applications. The product is installed in residential construction, hospitals, schools, and in commercial and industrial structures. For this reason, the pattern of cast iron soil pipe shipments and sales is directly related to the pattern of building/construction activity. In buildings, the principal assembly of this piping is installed within the partitions and serves the tub, lavatory, and water closet fixtures. The main line in this assembly is the cast iron soil stack, which runs vertically from the building drain up through the structure and through the roof. Waste lines are connected to this main soil stack, and vent lines may also be tied in at a point above the highest fixture. Market Survey India needs to grow faster than the conservative assumption at a GDP close to 10 percent a year. Cities grow rapidly, there will be rapid population growth and industry specific developments relating to massive usage of ductile iron pipes. The real life expectancy of cast iron pipe is unknown, but is usually estimated at 100 years or more. The oldest operating cast iron main is that at Versailles, France, installed in 1664. In United States and in Canada there are more than 500 members of the Cast Iron Pipe Century Club, a unique organization composed of cities or utilities have cast iron pipe still in service after 100 years. In India, Electro steel Castings Limited (ECL) was the first to set up a Ductile Iron Pipe Plant. Ductile Iron Pipe, a product of advanced metallurgy, offers unique properties for conveying water under pressure, and other piping uses. ?
