Rubber is a versatile product with multiple usages. It is grown in various countries worldwide and plays a crucial role in the Indian economy too. India is one of the leading rubber producers in the world.

The use of rubber is widespread, ranging from household to industrial products, entering the production stream at the intermediate stage or as final products. Tyre and tubes are the largest consumers of rubber. The remaining 44% is taken up by the general rubber goods sector, which includes all products, except tyres and tubes. Synthetic rubber is mainly used for the production of auto tyres and tubes, cycle tyres and tubes and footwear. Other applications for the synthetic variety are camel back, belts and hoses. The market segmentation includes Auto tyres and tubes   56%, Bicycle tyres and tubes    9%, Footwear    18%, Latex goods    8%, Belts and hoses    4%, Camelback   5%.

India, being the fourth largest producer of natural rubber in world, is considered to be one of the key players in the global rubber business. The entire requirement of rubber-based industries for natural rubber, synthetic rubber, rayon and nylon tyre cord, steel cord, carbon black and rubber chemicals, etc is being met from indigenous sources. Rapid progress has also been made in the production of natural rubber.

There are about 5000 units comprising 30 large-scale, 300 medium scale and around 4600 small-scale and tiny sector units. These units manufacture more than 35,000 rubber products.

The main producer of synthetic rubber in India has been Synthetics and Chemicals, Apar Industries, Apcotex Lattices and Unimers India. Synthetics and Chemicals had closed down.

The future for natural rubber looks bright. Ever increasing volumes are being produced. At 5.92 million tonnes per annum, natural rubber has 39 per cent of the world rubber consumption of 15.14 million tonne per annum. The rubber industry is expected to grow at over 8 per cent per annum this decade, as the per capita consumption of rubber is 0.8 kg against 14 kg in the developed world. India is likely to become the world's third-largest producer of natural rubber after Thailand and Indonesia, Rubber Board sources said. And with crude prices unlikely to come down, synthetic rubber is likely to remain a costly alternative. With accelerating demand from automobile industry and other rubber consuming industries in developing countries, the shortage of natural rubber is likely to aggravate in coming years. There exists a huge scope for expansion causing import of machinery, technology and raw materials and export of rubber goods.

It is also called a rubber or the barrier method. Rubber condoms (male) are used by the majority of man today for enjoying the sexual inter course. The function of the condoms is to collect the sperm created by the man during sexual intercourse. This condom prevents the sperm in penetrating into the female reproductory organ, the various methods of contraception used in the world are estimated as. Rubber tends to deteriorate with age. This happens particularly in the case of thin walled articles condoms are packaged in such a way so as to protect them normally during storage. The market for subsidised condoms (a major of the total market) expanded by a marginally higher rate. The growth in north and west India was more than the rest of the country. It is understood that in terms of sales of a specific brand, Moods by Hindustan Lever (now Hindustan Unilever) was the highest, which increased by over 31%. Natural skin condoms: made from lamb intestine, rarely used nowadays. It provides better sensation, but does not protect from infection. Most viruses can cross the natural membrane. Natural Rubber Block

Natural rubber, also called by other names of India rubber, latex, Amazonian rubber, gaucho or caoutchouc, as initially produced, consists of polymers of the organic compound isoprene, with minor impurities of other organic compounds, plus water. Thailand and Indonesia are two of the leading rubber producers. Natural rubber is used extensively in many applications and products, either alone or in combination with other materials. In most of its useful forms, it has a large stretch ratio and high resilience, and is extremely waterproof Latex is the polymer cis-1,4-polyisoprene – with a molecular weight of 100,000 to 1,000,000 daltons. Natural rubber is an elastomeric and a thermoplastic. Once the rubber is vulcanized, it is a thermos. Most rubber in everyday use is vulcanized to a point where it shares properties of both; i.e., if it is heated and cooled, it is degraded but not destroyed. India's natural rubber imports in 2018/19 surged to a record high as production dropped amid a rise in consumption, the state-run Rubber Board said on May 3. The country's production fell 7.5 percent from a year ago to 642,000 tones, while consumption jumped 9 percent to a record 1.21 million tones, the board said. The world production of rubber was considered to be very unstable during the last few years. Comparatively, India's production of rubber is consistent at the rate of 6% per annum. The Rubber industry in India is growing with its roots deeper. India is the 3rd largest consumer, while the largest producer of natural rubber in the world. The Rubber Board has received approval to encourage block rubber production, which is expected to mark a new channel for rubber processing in the domestic sector.

It is also called a rubber or the barrier method. Control of fertility continues to be an important issue through the world even though the population growth rate has shown a steady decline in many countries, partly owing to the extensive use of condoms (male) or with use of the oral contraceptives (female). Rubber condoms (male) are used by the majority of man today for enjoying the sexual inter course. According to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, there are four types of condoms in vogue: (a) Natural skin condoms: made from lamb intestine, rarely used nowadays. It provides better sensation, but does not protect from infection. Most viruses can cross the natural membrane; (b) Latex condoms (0.3 - 0.8 mm thick) - sperms and organisms causing STIs cannot pass through these condoms; (c) Polyurethane condoms: odourless, have greater sensitivity and resistance to deterioration from storage and lubricants; individuals with latex allergy can use polyurethane condoms; (d) Silicon rubber condom: thicker and less popular The use of condoms, conceived primarily as a tool for family planning to curtail population growth, has attained a primacy in arresting the spreading of the dreaded disease, AIDS. Disposable Nitrile Gloves (Nitrile Examination Hand Gloves)

Disposable Nitrile Gloves (Nitrile Examination Hand Gloves) Nirile gloves are the perfect compromise between latex and vinyl. Nitrile is made from an allergy safe compound that feels a lot like latex but it’s much stronger, costs less, and is more comfortable to wear. Nitrile is perfect for demanding applications, especially cleaning and dishwashing. Nitrile gloves are commonly used as exam gloves, but due to their strength, lend themselves to multiple uses. Nitrile comes in powdered form, sterile, non-sterile and offered at different lengths from wrist to forearm. They are designed for multiple uses that include basic exam room checks, to hazardous materials handling, like working with chemotherapy chemicals. Powder Free Nitrile Gloves are anti-static in behavior, good solvent resistant, odour free, and hence useful in food and dairy industry. Powder-free gloves reduce the cause of allergies by lowering protein and chemical content. Powdered gloves are usually lubricated with cornstarch, which makes them much easier to put on. Cornstarch coatings have replaced other powdering options such as lycopodium powder and talc because these other coating types have been found to irritate tissue. Nevertheless, even cornstarch can impede healing when coming into contact with tissues, so powder-free gloves are often preferred for surgeries and other sensitive procedures. Special Features Latex-free, odour-free and powder-free Can Withstand IPA washing (ISO Propyl Alcohol). Can be used in food industry Ideal for doctors with latex allergy Nitrile gloves are primarily used in the medical sector as a safety tool to prevent the spreading of infection between caretakers and patients. The benefits offered by nitrile gloves include superior strength, longevity, and better protection against bloodborne pathogens. COVID-19 The outbreak of Novel coronavirus disease (now named COVID-19) was initially noticed from a seafood market in Wuhan city in Hubei Province of China in mid-December, 2019, has spread to more than 185 countries/territories worldwide including India. The causative agent for COVID-19, earlier termed provisionally as novel Coronavirus has been officially named as SARS-CoV-2. Mode of transmission There is clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of SARS-CoV-2. It is thought to be transmitted mainly through respiratory droplets that get generated when people cough, sneeze, or exhale. SARS-CoV-2 also gets transmitted by touching, by direct touch and through contaminated surfaces or objects and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. Healthcare associated infection by SARS-CoV-2 virus has been documented among healthcare workers in many countries. The people most at risk of COVID-19 infection are those who are in close contact with a suspect/confirmed COVID-19 patient or who care for such patients. Nirile Gloves Role When a person touches an object/surface contaminated by COVID-19 infected person, and then touches his own eyes, nose, or mouth, he may get exposed to the virus. Although this is not thought to be a predominant mode of transmission, care should be exercised while handling objects/surface potentially contaminated by suspect/confirmed cases of COVID-19. Nitrile gloves are preferred over latex gloves because they resist chemicals, including certain disinfectants such as chlorine. There is a high rate of allergies to latex and contact allergic dermatitis among health workers. However, if nitrile gloves are not available, latex gloves can be used. Nonpowdered gloves are preferred to powdered gloves. The Global Nitrile Gloves Market is expected to reach USD 3.50 Billion by 2027. Growth in the incidences of epidemic diseases and the subsequent increase in the demand for infection prevention and control utilities are expected to drive the market demand in the forecast period. Asia Pacific market is estimated to witness the fastest growth rate of 6.5% in the nitrile gloves market. Production of Latex & Nitrile Gloves

Nitrile is a synthetic rubber compound that is commonly used as a disposable glove material. Nitrile has a higher puncture resistance than any other glove material. Nitrile also has a better chemical resistance than Latex or Vinyl gloves. Nitrile gloves are a more hypoallergenic choice. Created from synthetic rubbers, the incidence of nitrile rubber allergy is extremely low. Nitrile gloves are not packed in powder and are easy to handle directly on removal from the box. Nitrile gloves are considered to be the ideal choice in emergency situations when the allergy status of a patient or user is not known. Nitrile gloves are extremely durable and puncture resistant. Nitrile gloves can withstand exposure to oils, solvents, and chemicals which easily destroy natural latex gloves. Nitrile gloves however are not as soft as latex gloves, and are not known for being easy to wear. In fact, their strength is a weakness when dealing with applications that require fine movements and dexterity. Nitrile is also slightly more expensive to produce. Latex comes directly from rubber trees. Latex gloves are the most commonly used disposable gloves because they have been the only strong disposable glove material option on the market. However, now many hospitals and clinics have begun replacing their latex gloves with nitrile gloves. Latex gloves are often preferred by healthcare providers since they provide the best service when it comes to elasticity, comfort and fit. Surgeons in particular benefit from latex gloves since they are great for sensitive work, since they offer more precision with high tactile sensitivity. While there are allergy concerns with latex gloves, they are sometimes more favorable to users over a nitrile glove mainly due to comfort and strength. Generally Latex gloves will be more comfortable, sensitive, and provide better grip, although the modern advances in nitrile glove manufacturing has seen nitrile gloves become more comfortable, thinner, with better dexterity. LATEX GLOVES from The Safety Zone provide the best feel, fit and dexterity. Latex gloves are available in both lightly powdered and powder free options in a variety of thicknesses. Lightly powdered latex gloves are produced with a food grade corn starch powder, making donning easier especially when hands are wet. Powder free gloves go through an extra process of chlorinating the gloves to ease donning. Polymer coated latex gloves provide an additional barrier to prevent latex proteins from touching the skin. The physical properties of latex offer protection from bio hazardous risks whilst superior elasticity and tensile strength. These properties provide unsurpassed user comfort and a reasonable resistance to cuts and abrasions. As latex gloves are manufactured from a naturally occurring substance, they possess greater biodegradability and are kinder to the environment than Vinyl and Nitrile gloves, which are manufactured from man-made synthetic materials.
