Liquid Hand Wash

Hands are primary mode of transmission of microbes and infections. Hand-washing is critical in food production, food service and also important in healthcare setting, homes and day care preparations. Hand hygiene is therefore the most important measure to avoid the transmission of harmful germs and prevent the infections. Hand hygiene is the single most important, simplest, and least expensive means of preventing nosocomial infections. To protect the skin from harmful micro organisms and to prevent spreading of many contagious diseases, hand washing is absolutely an important precaution. The significance of hand washing is more vital when it is allied to health care workers because of possible contagion of bacteria that can be pathogenic or opportunistic. Liquid soaps contain antimicrobial active ingredients which take away more bacteria as compared to plain soap. For control of Staphylococcal infections in hospitals and other health care’s, it has been found that the greatest benefits from hand washing came from the first 20% of washing and very petite additional benefits were gained when hand clean-up rate was increased beyond 35%. Washing with plain soap results in more than triple the rate of bacterial infectious diseases transmitted to food as compared to washing with antibacterial hand washes. Comparing hand washes with alcohol-based solutions and washing with antibacterial for a median time of 30 seconds, each one showed that the alcohol-based hand washes reduced bacterial contamination 26% more than the antibacterial. But liquid soap and water is the more effective than alcohol-based hand rubs for reducing H1N1 influenza A virus and Clostridium diffcile spores from hands. Liquid hand soap contains anionic surfactant, cocamide dea surfactant, coco betaine as amphoteric surfactant, opaque agent as making opaque, dye, fragrance, glycerine for prevention hand outside conditions and etc. In addition, antibacterial agent for making antibacterial hand liquid soap. Making hand liquid soap for children, can be used soft ingredients. For making natural liquid hand soap as opaque or clear not changing. used natural and herbal oil, potassium hydroxide, water, glycerine, dye and fragrance. These ingredients are used to make saponification for hand liquid soap as natural. One of the best ways to prevent infection from the coronavirus is to avoid being exposed to the virus and stop it from entering in the body. Some of the easiest ways to become infected by a virus is to transfer it from hands to mouth, nose or eyes. Washing hands using hand wash or soap has a dual effect, it primarily washes the virus away from body. It also disrupts the virus so it cannot bind and infect cells. The coronavirus (COVID-19) belong to the family of enveloped viruses. The “envelop” is like a jacket made up of lipids and proteins and protects the virus from the environment and helps it to enter human cells such as lung cells. Liquid hand wash, soaps, detergents and alcohol-based hand sanitizers disrupt the envelop resulting in the inactivation of these types of viruses. The global liquid soap market size was estimated at USD 18.50 billion in 2018. Rising awareness regarding personal hygiene among adults is expected to remain a key driving factor for the market. These liquid formulations are expected to gain popularity as they have low pH levels which make them gentler and suitable for people with sensitive skin. This factor is anticipated to contribute to the widespread adoption of the product in near future. Global Hand Soap market is forecast to witness rapid growth of around 6.7% over the forecast period of 2020-2030. Of all applications, the household segment accounts for more than 70% of the market share. Escalating demand for hand soap was observed in the first quarter of 2020 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the 2nd quarter, the demand is projected to follow an upward trend with increasing awareness about hand hygiene across regions. The key market players include Reckitt Benckiser Group plc.; Procter & Gamble; Unilever; 3M; Lion Corporation; GOJO Industries, Inc.; Kao Chemicals; Godrej Consumer Products; Bluemoon Bodycare; NEW AVON LLC.; and Pental Products etc.

Production of Latex & Nitrile Gloves

Nitrile is a synthetic rubber compound that is commonly used as a disposable glove material. Nitrile has a higher puncture resistance than any other glove material. Nitrile also has a better chemical resistance than Latex or Vinyl gloves. Nitrile gloves are a more hypoallergenic choice. Created from synthetic rubbers, the incidence of nitrile rubber allergy is extremely low. Nitrile gloves are not packed in powder and are easy to handle directly on removal from the box. Nitrile gloves are considered to be the ideal choice in emergency situations when the allergy status of a patient or user is not known. Nitrile gloves are extremely durable and puncture resistant. Nitrile gloves can withstand exposure to oils, solvents, and chemicals which easily destroy natural latex gloves. Nitrile gloves are commonly used as exam gloves, but due to their strength, lend themselves to multiple uses. Nitrile comes in powdered form, sterile, non-sterile and offered at different lengths from wrist to forearm. They are designed for multiple uses that include basic exam room checks, to hazardous materials handling, like working with chemotherapy chemicals. Powder Free Nitrile Gloves are anti-static in behavior, good solvent resistant, odour free, and hence useful in food and dairy industry. Powder-free gloves reduce the cause of allergies by lowering protein and chemical content. Powdered gloves are usually lubricated with cornstarch, which makes them much easier to put on. Cornstarch coatings have replaced other powdering options such as lycopodium powder and talc because these other coating types have been found to irritate tissue. Nevertheless, even cornstarch can impede healing when coming into contact with tissues, so powder-free gloves are often preferred for surgeries and other sensitive procedures. Nitrile gloves however are not as soft as latex gloves, and are not known for being easy to wear. In fact, their strength is a weakness when dealing with applications that require fine movements and dexterity. Nitrile is also slightly more expensive to produce. Latex comes directly from rubber trees. Latex gloves are the most commonly used disposable gloves because they have been the only strong disposable glove material option on the market. However, now many hospitals and clinics have begun replacing their latex gloves with nitrile gloves. Latex gloves are often preferred by healthcare providers since they provide the best service when it comes to elasticity, comfort and fit. Surgeons in particular benefit from latex gloves since they are great for sensitive work, since they offer more precision with high tactile sensitivity. While there are allergy concerns with latex gloves, they are sometimes more favorable to users over a nitrile glove mainly due to comfort and strength. Generally Latex gloves will be more comfortable, sensitive, and provide better grip, although the modern advances in nitrile glove manufacturing has seen nitrile gloves become more comfortable, thinner, with better dexterity. LATEX GLOVES from The Safety Zone provide the best feel, fit and dexterity. Latex gloves are available in both lightly powdered and powder free options in a variety of thicknesses. Lightly powdered latex gloves are produced with a food grade corn starch powder, making donning easier especially when hands are wet. Powder free gloves go through an extra process of chlorinating the gloves to ease donning. Polymer coated latex gloves provide an additional barrier to prevent latex proteins from touching the skin. The physical properties of latex offer protection from bio hazardous risks whilst superior elasticity and tensile strength. These properties provide unsurpassed user comfort and a reasonable resistance to cuts and abrasions. As latex gloves are manufactured from a naturally occurring substance, they possess greater biodegradability and are kinder to the environment than Vinyl and Nitrile gloves, which are manufactured from man-made synthetic materials. GLOVE TYPE DEFINITION ADVANTAGE PROTECTION LEVEL Latex Gloves Made of natural rubber Highest comfort, Bacteria, viruses flexibility, fit and tactile sensitivity Nitrile Gloves Made of synthetic material Stretchy, durable Chemicals, viruses Special Features Nitrile gloves • Mould to your hand for a great fit • Latex free • Good durability • Excellent puncture resistance • Have a long shelf life • Available in powdered and powder free • Can be worn for longer periods of time • Work well for high-risk situations involving infectious materials Special Features Latex gloves • Fit like a second skin • They are cost effective • They are biodegradable so better for the environment • Very elastic and strong • Preferred in the medical industry over nitrile as they are made from a natural source • Good dexterity Market of Nitrile Gloves The Global Nitrile Gloves Market is expected to reach USD 3.50 Billion by 2027. Growth in the incidences of epidemic diseases and the subsequent increase in the demand for infection prevention and control utilities are expected to drive the market demand in the forecast period. Nitrile gloves are primarily used in the medical sector as a safety tool to prevent the spreading of infection between caretakers and patients. The benefits offered by nitrile gloves include superior strength, longevity, and better protection against bloodborne pathogens. Asia Pacific market is estimated to witness the fastest growth rate of 6.5% in the nitrile gloves market. This can be chiefly attributed to the growth of the healthcare sector and the food processing industry in the leading countries in this region, especially China, India, and South Korea. Key players of the market are ompanies Ansell, Hartalega Holdings Berhad, Dynarex Corporation, United Glove Inc., Kossan Rubber Industries Ltd., Supermax Corporation Berhad, Rubberex, Adventa Berhad, Kimberly Clark and 3M among others. Gloves are disposable items used during medical examinations and procedures intended to prevent cross-contamination between healthcare providers and patients. Examination gloves are sized in XS, S, M and L. Some brands also offer size XL. Gloves are mainly used by healthcare professionals generally for examination and surgery. Surgical gloves are generally sized more specifically since they are worn for a much longer period of time and require excellent dexterity. There are various benefits of latex gloves such as properly fit to skin, good touch sensitivity, cost-effective, can be worn for an extended amount of time, elastic & strong and most importantly it is biodegradable. India disposable gloves market generated $303 million in 2017, and is projected to reach $760 million by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 12.4% from 2018 to 2025. Role of gloves in covid-19 Medical gloves are used by health care personnel to prevent the spread of infection or illness. Medical gloves are disposable and include patient examination gloves and surgeon’s gloves. To help expand the availability of medical gloves, the FDA is providing regulatory flexibility, as described in the enforcement policy for gloves that is in effect during the COVID-19 public health emergency. When a person touches an object/surface contaminated by COVID-19 infected person, and then touches his own eyes, nose, or mouth, he may get exposed to the virus. Although this is not thought to be a predominant mode of transmission, care should be exercised while handling objects/surface potentially contaminated by suspect/confirmed cases of COVID-19. Nitrile gloves are preferred over latex gloves because they resist chemicals, including certain disinfectants such as chlorine. There is a high rate of allergies to latex and contact allergic dermatitis among health workers. However, if nitrile gloves are not available, latex gloves can be used. Non-powdered gloves are preferred to powdered gloves

Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizers that do not contain alcohol usually contain benzalkonium chloride instead. They kill bacteria by disrupting their membranes, but we still don’t know how effective they are against certain types of viruses. The US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention say this type of hand sanitizer is less reliable for tackling Covid-19 than those which are alcohol-based. Hand sanitizer is a liquid or gel generally used to decrease infectious agents on the hands. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer kills many types of viruses by dissolving their fat membranes. It kills bacteria by disrupting its cell membrane. The product also usually contains hydrogen peroxide which kills bacterial spores. While older hand sanitizers were known to dry your hands, newer ones contain gelling agents which dramatically reduce skin dryness. Most of these hand sanitizers contain a combination of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and ethanol. The percentage of alcohol present in hand sanitizer is key to its efficacy – those with less than 60 per cent alcohol will be less effective at killing microorganisms, and will just reduce their growth. India hand sanitizer market is projected to surpass $ 43 million by 2025. Growth of hand sanitizer market in India can be attributed to rising awareness about healthy lifestyle & wellness, shifting consumer preference towards convenient hygiene products and rising disposable income. Moreover, the strong marketing activities by leading brands, in addition to huge endorsements, are some other drivers of hand sanitizer market in India. Paracetamol is a commonly used medicine that can help treat pain and reduce a high temperature (fever). It is often recommended as one of the first treatments for pain, as it's safe for most people to take and side effects are rare. India is the seventh largest country in the world and has the second highest population. It has a parliamentary democratic form of government and has abundant natural resources and sufficient oil reserves. Huge investment promises from different countries predict a bright future for India. It has a well-developed administration and an independent judicial system with an ever-growing consumer base. It has a huge pool of hard-working skilled workers in all fields. The government has set up tax and non-tax incentives to establish new industrial entities in specific sectors, which include energy, ports, highways, electronics, and software. The Make in India initiative was launched by the government in 2014 and received an excellent response from the developed nations. The government has also created special areas dedicated to export, called export-processing zones (EPZs) or special economic zones (SEZs), to encourage foreign investment. The global active pharmaceutical ingredient market size is expected to reach a value of USD 286.6 billion by 2027, registering a CAGR of 6.7% over the forecast period. Factors, such as increasing preference for outsourcing APIs and growing prevalence of various target diseases such as cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) are expected to drive the market growth. Patent expirations of blockbuster drugs give rise to generic versions of these molecules, wherein the manufacturers bear the cost. After a patent expires, R&D investments done by the company are no longer beneficial for the company. API production requires a huge capital amount as the process needs extremely systematic protocols. Thus, pharmaceutical companies benefit from outsourcing API production, as it eliminates the need for labor force and installing expensive manufacturing units. Strategic outsourcing allows companies to focus on their core competencies, ultimately resulting in increased productivity. These factors are also projected to drive the active pharmaceutical ingredient market growth. The growth of active pharmaceutical ingredients market is marked by the huge demand for drugs like analgesics, anti-infectives and diabetes, and pain management drugs. But with the rising trend of increasing research and development (R&D) activities, the demand is experiencing a shift towards the advancement of complex APIs that find use in novel formulations, thereby targeting niche therapeutic areas. This facilitates the development of new technologies and ensures a high quality product. Among the problems for pharmaceutical supply chains during this pandemic are the restrictions and impact of COVID-19 on two of the largest global producers of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and generics: China and India. APIs is a crucial part of the pharma industry’s strategic plan to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The majority of APIs for generic drug manufacturing across the globe are sourced from India, which also supplies approximately 30 percent of the generic APIs used in the US. However, Indian manufacturers rely heavily on APIs from China for the production of their medicine formulations, procuring around 70 percent from China, the top global producer and exporter of APIs by volume. Role of Government towards API The coronavirus outbreak disrupting supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and medical devices from China to India, the government has come out with four schemes worth Rs 13,760 crore to encourage manufacturing of bulk drugs and medical devices in the country and their exports. On March 21, the Union Cabinet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved an expenditure of Rs. 9,940 crore and Rs. 3,820 crore for APIs and medical devices, respectively. The Cabinet also approved a scheme on promotion of bulk drug parks for financing common infrastructure facilities in three bulk drug parks with financial implication of Rs. 3,000 crore for next five years. The government will give grants-in-aid to states with a maximum limit of Rs. 1,000 crore per bulk Drug Park. Parks will have common facilities such as solvent recovery plant, distillation plant, power and steam units, common effluent treatment plant etc. The government further approved production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for promotion of domestic manufacturing of critical KSMs/drug intermediates and APIs in the country with financial implications of Rs. 6,940 crore for next eight years. Financial incentive will be given to eligible manufacturers of identified 53 critical bulk drugs on their incremental sales over the base year (2019-20) for a period of 6 years. Out of 53 identified bulk drugs, 26 are fermentation based bulk drugs and 27 are chemical synthesis based bulk drugs. Rate of incentive will be 20 per cent (of incremental sales value) for fermentation based bulk drugs and 10 per cent for chemical synthesis based bulk drugs. The PLI scheme will lead to expected incremental sales of Rs. 46,400 crore and significant additional employment generation over eight years. The drug industry has welcomed the incentives offered by the government to promote API units in India. Besides APIs, the Cabinet also approved the scheme for promotion of medical device parks in the country in partnership with the states. A maximum grant-in-aid of Rs. 100 crore per park will be provided to the states. It will have financial implications of Rs. 400 crore. The PLI scheme for promoting domestic manufacturing of medical devices will have financial implications of Rs. 3,420 crore for next five years. Medical device is a growing sector and its potential for growth is the highest among all sectors in the healthcare market. It is valued at Rs. 50,026 crore for 2018-19 and is expected to reach to Rs. 86,840 crore by 2021-22. India depends on imports up to an extent of 85 per cent of total domestic demand of medical devices. Production of Active Pharma Ingredients (API) (Amoxicillin Trihydrate, Azithromycin & Paracetamol). Investment Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Industry. An active ingredient (AI) is that the ingredient in an exceedingly pharmaceutical drug that's biologically active. The similar terms active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and bulk active i.e. bulk medicine are utilized in medicine, and therefore the term active substance could also be used for natural products. Thus, depending on the drug’s administered dosage, the reactions and results differ. Certain drugs are comprised of more than one kind of API. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic used to treat variety of bacterial infections. These include middle ear infection, strep throat, pneumonia, skin infections, and tract infections among others. It’s taken orally, or less usually by injection. Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), is that the term used to check with the biologically active component of a drug product (e.g. tablet, capsule). Drug products are typically composed of many elements. The aforementioned API is that the primary ingredient. Alternative ingredients are commonly known as "excipients" and these substances are always required to be biologically safe, often making up a variable fraction of the drug product. The procedure for optimizing and compositing this mixture of components utilized in the drug is known as "formulation."
