How do you identify business opportunities in Africa?

Industry experts are beginning to view Africa as the “new Asia” in terms of economic growth and business opportunity.

Africa is becoming an increasingly attractive hub for investors in light of various economic, political and social reforms that are sweeping through the continent, resulting in a much improved business environment conducive for foreign direct investment. Apart from that, there is widespread development of critical social and physical infrastructure, and there is an increasing pool of well-educated, English-speaking, enterprising workers in most countries across the continent.

It’s true there are lots of amazing business opportunities in Africa. However, it can get very confusing if you don’t know where to look. In this article, I’ll show you some of the hottest business opportunities in Africa that will create more successful entrepreneurs.

Food Processing & Agriculture:  As the world’s population increases rapidly (recently exceeding the 7 billion mark), global agricultural production must rise to feed these growing numbers. Much of that increased agricultural production will come from Africa. The opportunities in Africa’s food and agribusiness space remain huge and will not go out of fashion anytime soon. The demand of quality food is increasing for a growing population, especially in urban areas. This situation presents many business opportunities in food industry sector. It is time for you to seize these business opportunities by starting a small food processing industry and create value-added products from cereals, grains, nuts, fruits and vegetables.

High building and construction activities are often signs of growing economies. When the economy looks good, the demand for residential, commercial and all kinds of real estate usually goes through the roof. The successful delivery of the government and the private sector infrastructure programs depends on the effective functioning of many stakeholders – including the building and construction materials sector. Against the need for a healthy building and construction materials sector, the cidb has developed this report on the building and construction materials sector. A key focus of this study has been on:

• Opportunities and challenges in the building and construction materials sector, and specifically;

Cattle Feed - Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Economics, Cost of Project

The principal feed resources for animal consumption in the country are crop residues like straws of wheat, rice and other cereals and stovers, which are very poor in feed value. Even these are in short supply. Such a situation is bound to aggravate difficulties in the feeding of better producing livestock such as cross breed for early growth, better reproduction and higher milk production. Livestock in the country, therefore, suffer widely from insufficient supply of nutrients. The unconventional agro-industrial by products and forest wastes may find a greater use as livestock feeds in coming years. Cattle feed is a peculiar product consumed mainly by cattle owners of rural area. The benefits of this scientifically prepared cattle feed over traditional feed has become as popular as they should be. The problem is much of replacing unscientific feeding system with scientific feed. India has the largest cattle, buffalo and goat population according to latest census. There are about 200 million cattle, 50 million buffaloes and 90 million goats in the country. Animal husbandry plays an important role in the national life and accounts for about 10% of the national income. Few Major Players are as under:- Advanced Bio-Agro Tech Ltd. Rice Bran Oil (Solvent Extraction) - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Plant Layout

Rice is an important food crop. Rice bran is a by- product resulting from the processing of rice. It is the main source of rice oil. The majority of available bran continues to be used for animal feeds without being extracted for the oil. Rice oil, also called rice bran oil, has been used extensively in Asian countries. Rice bran oil is extremely light, versatile and delicious. Used to fry, sauté, salad dressings, baking, dipping oils and where ever you use cooking oil. It is amazing cooking oil- light, healthy and also best in taste. The crude bran oil can also be used for manufacture of soap, emulsifiers, fatty acid, plasticisers, cosmetics and tocoferol (vitamin E) etc. India produces about 80 million tonnes of paddy annually. This can yield about 5 million tonnes of rice bran and to the extent of 8 lakhs tonnes of rice bran oil. Production of rice bran oil is currently estimated at about 2 lakhs tonnes and hardly 10-15 per cent of it is of edible grade, although the potential availability is reckoned at about 8 lakhs tonnes. The wide gap between the actual production and the potential availability of rice bran oil is primarily due to the fact that at present around 70 per cent of the paddy produced in the country is processed through huller mills while only 30 percent is processed by modern Sheller mills. Plastic Granules from Plastic Waste - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities

Plastic is a very common material that is now widely used by everybody in this world. Plastic is used in many ways as it is light weight and compact. Plastic can be recycled and new products can be formed from waste plastic. Though all types of plastic cannot be recycled a considerable portion can be recycled so that the environment is protected. Plastic recycling involves the process of recovering scrap plastics and these waste plastics are then reprocessed to form new materials that may be different from their original state. Plastics are divided into two distinct groups: thermoplastics and thermosets. The majority of plastics are thermoplastic, meaning that once the plastic is formed it can be heated and reformed repeatedly. The other group, the thermosets, cannot be remelted. Once these plastics are formed, reheating will cause the material to decompose rather than melt. In order to be reprocessed, plastics waste has to be ground to a particle size close to that of virgin resin. The size reduction in most cases is accomplished with the use of a granulator. The per capita consumption of polymers in India is around 5.5 kg. The average per capita consumption of polymers is estimated 90 kg for the US and 22 kg for China. While the global average consumption is estimated at 17 kg per person. The demand estimates for all polymers including engineering polymers was envisaged to increase from 7.5 mn tonne in 2006-07 and to 9.5 mn tonne in 2009-10. It was projected at close to 14 mn tonnes in 2014-15. India is one of the fastest growing polymer market in the world, and is expected to become the world's third largest polymers market, with a consumption of 12.5 mn tonne, after the US and China, by 2010.
