Beer and Wine Projects

Drinking practices vary substantially among different countries and different masses. But both alcoholic beverages are very popular among all ages of people. The alcoholic drinks market is broadly classified into five classes, starting from beers, wines, hard liquors, liqueurs and others. The Indian alcoholic market has been growing rapidly for the last ten years, due to the positive impact of demographic trends and expected changes like rising income levels, changing age profile, changing lifestyles and reduction in beverages prices. Beer and wine are perhaps the oldest and most popular of all alcoholic beverages in the world.

The Indian beer Industry has been witnessing a steady growth rate of 7-9 per cent per year for the last ten years. Apart from Kingfisher and Foster’s Beer, the other brands in the Indian market are Carling Black Label, Carlsberg, Dansberg, Golden Eagle, Haywards 5000,Premium Lager, Kingfisher Strong, Hi-Five etc. to name a few. India has emerged as one of the fastest growing markets for wine consumption on the global map. The market is growing at a rate of up to 25% per annum each year. With a population base of over 1.1 Billion, the consumption of wine is extremely low, indicating vast potential for future growth. Champagne Indage has been the pioneer in making French style wine in India. Grover Vineyards and Sula Vineyards too have made smart strides in a short time span. Recently, companies in the Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) space like Diageo, United Breweries and Seagrams too have ventured into making wine. Other majors players in this field are United Spirits Ltd, Mohan Breweries & Distilleries Ltd, Jagatjit Industries Ltd, Empee Distilleries Ltd. Radico Khaitan Ltd. etc. to name a few.

India presents a huge growth potential for alcoholic beverages sales. The domestic production of beer and wine is on the rise, especially beer with official statistics reporting a 12 per cent increase in domestic beer production. Increasing GDP, favourable growth in the demographics with a growing urban middle class, growth of modern retail formats, hopeful rationalization of the taxation rules and ban on local country liquor and rising health consciousness, age preferences will act in favour of the growth of alcoholic (beer and wine) beverages in India in the near future.

Beer is the world’s most widely consumed alcoholic beverage; it is the third-most popular drink overall, after water and tea. It is thought by some to be the oldest fermented beverage. Beer is produced by the saccharification of starch and fermentation of the resulting sugar. Whisky is distilled from a grain mash, at below 160 proof, so as to maintain the flavors of the grain. The spirits category of "Whisky" encompasses several different products, including: Bourbon, Corn whisky, Rye whisky,Canadian, Irish or Scotch whisky. Rum is one of the oldest and most varied of distilled spirits. It is distilled from the extracted juice of the sugar cane plant, or in some cases the by-product of the refining process known as molasses. Uses of Beer Whisky and Rum Beside alcoholic beverage beer, whisky and rum can also be used for the following process: • Beer is a surprisingly good wood furniture polish. • Bear can be used to marinate meat. • Beer can be used to polish gold jewellery. • Beer can remove coffee or tea stains from rugs. • Rum can be used as an antiseptic when there is no anti bacterial soap handy. • The bottles in which rum are stored can be considered collectible. • When consumed in moderate amount it can prevent kidney stones. • Rum can be use as sedative to sleep well. • Rum can be drunk to reduce risk of diabetes. • Used when cooking various foods and recipes to enhance flavor. • It can be use to improve vascular health too. Of the over Rs 280 bn liquor industry (excluding beer) selling around 450 mn cases annually, a large peg of which (67%) is whisky, followed by brandy and gin at 13%, rum at 17% while the white spirits account for 3% of the market share. Of this, the Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) accounts for Rs 78 bn (86 mn cases) with whisky alone constituting 95%. Besides, there is a large 223 mn case market of low-priced country liquor. Indian spirit market also consumes branded country liquor worth Rs 125 bn and unbranded country liquor worth Rs 50 bn. Rice Flakes from Broken Rice (used in Beer Industry)-Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials,Feasibility Study,Investment Opportunities

Rice flakes are tasty flakes that are created using rice grains. The process for creating rice flakes involves parboiling the rice, then flattening the grains to product a solid flake. There are a number of rice flake recipes used in Asian cuisine. Often in western countries, rice flakes are used to create cereals and different types of snacks. One common use of rice flakes is to create a simple dessert that is somewhat similar to the rice pudding commonly served in Western countries. This approach involves adding milk and sugar to the rice flakes and allowing them to steep in the mixture for a short time. The consistency of the finished dish is somewhat like that of cooked oatmeal. Rice flake is used in Beer industry. Rice Flakes or Poha (also called beaten rice) is a de-husked rice which is flattened into flat light dry flakes. These flakes of rice swell when added to liquid, whether hot or cold, as they absorb water, milk or any other liquids. The thicknesses of these flakes vary between almost translucently thin (the more expensive varieties) to nearly four times thicker than a normal rice grain. This easily digestible form of raw rice is very popular across Nepal, India and Bangladesh, and is normally used to prepare snacks or light and easy fast food in a variety of Indian cuisine styles, some even for long-term consumption of a week or more. It is known by a variety of names in India.

Vodka from Potato - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue

Vodka is a neutral spirit that is without distinctive character, aroma, taste, or color. These properties are developed during the distillation process or by treating crudely distilled spirits with activated carbon or other materials. Finely distilled vodka may also be further purified and refined by treatment with activated carbon and other materials. Vodka is usually not aged and can be made from grains, potatoes, sugars, fruits, and just about anything else that can be fermented to produce alcohol. This makes vodka an economical spirit that can be made easily in a short amount of time from readily available materials. Alcohol has a depresent effect on the central nervous system and not a stimulating effect as was formerly supposed. One apparent exhartation is due to its inhibitory action on higher, nervous centres. A strong does of alcohol introduced into the stomach increases heart beat and causes rise in blood pressure. Hence, the use of brandy as a rostorative. Alcohol posseses excellent solvent properties and it is used for the extration of several drugs and for the manufacture of tinctures and other medicinal preparation. It is also employed for the extraction of essential oil; and for the preparation of perfumes; essences and flavours. Vodka is produced in India by very few brands; hence this list includes mostly IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) and imported brands available in the market currently. This list of Top 10 Brands of Vodka in India is compiled on the basis of their prices. The prices may differ from one state to another depending upon the duty structure and the flavour variant. The imported brands, of course, have a higher price tag. As a whole it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest. Few Indian Major Players are as under • Allied Blenders & Distillers Pvt. Barley Malt - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Economics

Barley Malt is germinated cereal grains that have been dried in a process known as "malting". The grains are made to germinate by soaking in water, and are then halted from germinating further by drying with hot air. Malting grains develop the enzymes required to modify the grain's starches into sugars, including the monosaccharide glucose, the disaccharide maltose, the trisaccharide maltotriose, and higher sugars called maltodextrines. Barley Malt also contains small amounts of other sugars, such as sucrose and fructose. Barley Malted grain is used to make beer, whisky, malted shakes, malt vinegar, confections such as Maltesers and Whoppers, flavored drinks such as Horlicks, Ovaltine and Milo, and some baked goods, such as malt loaf, bagels and rich tea biscuits. Malted grain that has been ground into a coarse meal is known as "sweet meal". Various cereals are malted, though barley is the most common. Malting is the process of converting barley or other cereal grains into malt, for use in brewing, distilling, or in foods and takes place in a maltings, sometimes called a malthouse, or a malting floor. Out of the total production of 14.5 lakh MT in the country hardly 10% is used for Malt production. About 5-10% is reportedly used for human consumption and about 4-5% is retained by the farmers as seed. The large quantity of remaining barley is used as feed for the animals. WINERY - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Layout

Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermentation of grape juice. The natural chemical balance of grapes is such that they can ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes or other nutrients. Although other fruits such as apples and berries can also be fermented, the resultant "wines" are normally named after the fruit from which they are produced (for example, apple wine or elderberry wine) and are generically known as fruit or country wine. Others, such as barley wine and rice wine (e.g. sake), are made from starch-based materials and resemble beer more than wine, while ginger wine is fortified with brandy. In these cases, the use of the term "wine" is a reference to the higher alcohol content, rather than production process. The commercial use of the English word "wine" (and its equivalent in other languages) is protected by law in many jurisdictions. Wine is produced by fermenting crushed grapes using various types of yeast which consume the sugars found in the grapes and convert them into alcohol. Various varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts are used depending on the types of wine produced. Wine is one of the largely suitable alcoholic beverages, which is generally manufactured by fermentation of grape juice. Matured ripe grapes are the basic raw materials. Wine is used as drinking purpose for special type alcoholic beverages in parties or any special social function. It can be used as tonic for the weak health people. There are few well-organized companies engaged in the production of wine. There is also entry of European countries wine in Indian market to compete with the Indian brand. It has good market demands. There is about 20% to 30% demands of wine full filled by importing. Around 200 distilleries are in the production of different types of alcoholic products in the country. Among the various IMFL products whisky occupies the prominent position with a market share of above 50%. There is a good scope for new entrants.

Herbal Wine

Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented grapes, generally Vitisvinifera or its hybrids with Vitislabrusca or Vitisrupestris. Grapes ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes, water, or other nutrients as yeast consumes the sugar in the grapes and converts it to ethanol and carbon dioxide. Different varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts produce different styles of wine. There are also wines made from fermenting other fruits or cereals, whose names often specify their base, with some having specific names. Wines made from plants other than grapes include rice wine and various fruit wines such as those made from plums or cherries. Some well known example is hard cider from apples, perry from pears, pomegranate wine, and elderberry wine. For some compounds found in herbs, in fact alcohol is a more effective medium than water. This is why herbal tinctures are an effective method of healing with herbs. In a herbal wine infusion, wine also serves to stimulate the bloodstream, having an overall warming, soothing impact on the body. Wine consumption in India is around 26 million liter in 2015 in which 85% is table wine and it is showing a steady 10%-20% growth in last couple of years. About 80% demand for wine is mainly from major cities in India. Mumbai (39%), New Delhi (23%), Bangalore (9%), Goa (9%) and rest of India 20%. India ranks 77th in terms of world wine consumption. The per capita consumption in India is only 20 ml per year. India consumed 0.8% of total wine consumed in Asia. Red wine is the most popular type of wine consumed in Indian followed by white wine. Thus, due to demand it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest.
