Waste oil is any synthetic or petroleum-based oil that has become contaminated and unfit for its intended function. The main sources of this material are crankcase and lubrication wastes. The method of refining waste oil to generate fuel or lubricating oil is currently employed in various places. Waste oil appears to be harmful to the environment because it is burned or haphazardly dumped into the ground. Government agencies must create efficient recycling and disposal plans in order to refine waste oil. This contributes to environmental protection by reducing illegal waste oil dumping.
