| Casein pronounced "kay-seen" in British English, is a family of related phosphoproteins (?S1, ?S2, ?, ?). These proteins are commonly found in mammalian milk, comprising c. 80% of the proteins in cow's milk and between 20% and 45% of the proteins in human milk. The Casein has a wide variety of uses, from being a major component of cheese, to use as a food additive. The most common form of casein is sodium caseinate. Casein is one of the two types of proteins in milk. It carries the same amino acid profile as whey but is absorbed differently. This means it offers a full array of amino acids to help your muscles achieve protein synthesis rather than protein breakdown.
