| A thinner is a solvent used to thin oil-based paints or clean up after their use. Commercially, solvents labeled "Paint Thinner" are usually mineral spirit shaving a flash point at about 40 °C (104 °F). Rosin, also called colophony is a solid form of resin obtained from pines and some other plants, mostly conifers, produced by heating fresh liquid resin to vaporize the volatile liquid terpene components. It is semi-transparent and varies in color from yellow to black. White phenyl (sometimes written as phenyl) is a disinfecting agent made from pine oil. It is made by using an emulsifier- a compound that allows an oil to stably make a solution with water. Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) pipe and fittings are rapidly growing in popularity in both corrosive and high-temperature applications. CPVC piping systems can be joined using flanging, threading or mechanical joining.
