Beer also contributes to mineral requirements of the body and supplies useful quantities of vitamin B complex. A special use of beer is for the control of sodium intake in the treatment of disease e.g. congestive heart failure, high blood pressure and certain Kidney and liver ailments. Beer (because of its low pH say 4.2)cannot harbor any pathogenic germs. The content of nourishing components are all in dissolved form. Beer is free from fat; it acts as a diuretic and promotes the formation of gastric acid acting as an appetite inducer. Market Survey The growth of Indian beer industry in recent years has been fast. The annual growth in the Indian beer market has been around 8% in the recent years, which compares well with the growth in China. Some 36 units are manufacturing beer in India. The Indian beer industry has shifted towards the strong beer segment. In the mild beer segment, Kingfisher, Golden Eagle and Royal Challenge are the main brands. In the strong beer segments Haywards 5000, Haywards 2000, Knockout, Khajuraho are dominant. In the standard segment of over 55 mn cases, United Breweries has the lions share. Major brands of Mysore Breweries include Knockout, Bengal Premium, Pals Premium, and Seven Stars. Like distilled spirits, beer is classified as socially not preferred luxury in India. The excise and sales taxes are as high as 80% exclusive of retail fees, license fees and other levies. Additional import duties for beer are levied as per respective state policies. The import duty on beer is as high as 75%. Despite liberalization and foreign direct investment (FDI) approvals in the beer sector, it is still heavily licensed. This business has never ending demand and moreover, the demand is increasing day by day. So, installing this industry will be much fruitful to the entrepreneurs.
