On a global front, India is the 2nd largest leather garment exporter and 3rd largest saddlery and harness exporter. Leather is processed from raw hide-skins of various animals such as goat, buffalo, sheep, and cow. Mostly, goat and buffalo hides are used to prepare leather products that are exported to other nations. As per records, 40% of buffalo and 30% of goat hides are used in preparing leather constituting the total leather exports.
