Waste managementis the collection, transport, processing, recycling or disposal, and monitoring of waste materials. Concern over environment is being seen a massive increase in recycling globally which has grown to be an important part of modern civilization. The consumption habitsof modern consumerist lifestyles are causing a huge global waste problem.  Industrialization and economic growth has produced more amounts of waste, including hazardous and toxic wastes. There is a growing realization of the negative impacts that wastes have had on the local environment (air, water, land, human health etc.)

Waste management is the collection of all thrown away materials in order to recycle them and as a result decrease their effects on our health, our surroundings and the environment and enhance the quality of life.Waste management practices differ for developed and developing nations, for urban and rural areas, and for residential and industrial producers.Waste Management flows in a cycle: monitoring, collection, transportation, processing, disposal or recycle. Through these steps a company can effectively and responsibly manage waste output and their positive effect they have on the environment.

Waste generation per capita has increased and is expected to continue to climb with growing population, wealth, and consumerism throughout the world. Approaches to solving this waste problem in a scalable and sustainable manner would lead us to a model that uses waste as an input in the production of commodities and value monetized, making waste management a true profit center. The conversion of waste as a potential source of energy has a value as a supplemental feedstock for the rapidly developing bio-fuels sector. A variety of new technologies are being used and developed for the production of biofuels which are capable of converting wastes into heat, power, fuels or chemical feedstock.

Thermal Technologies like gasification, pyrolysis, thermal depolymerization, plasma arc gasification, and non–thermal technologies like anaerobic digestion, fermentation etc are a number of new and emerging technologies that are able to produce energy from waste and other fuels without direct combustion.Biodegradable wastes are  processed by composting, vermi-composting, anaerobic digestion or any other appropriate biological processing for the stabilization of wastes. Recycling of materials like plastics, paper and metals should be done for future use.

There is a clear need for the current approach of waste disposal in India that is focussed on municipalities and uses high energy/high technology, to move more towards waste processing and waste recycling (that involves public-private partnerships, aiming for eventual waste minimization - driven at the community level, and using low energy/low technology resources.

BIO MASS GASIFICATION POWER PLANT

Bio-gas power plant is one of the sources of non-conventional energy. The biomass fuels are solid carbonaceous materials derived from living plants and animals. There is availability of waste material in our country, producer gas can be easily converted to energy. It can be used for providing electricity in nearer or furthest area. It can also be used to run plant and machineries in the industry. Economic development results in both qualitative and quantitative increase in the use of energy. In India, it is estimated that of the 68.3 million tonnes of carbon released annually due to biomass burning, fuel wood accounts for 82.3%. It will be profitable for any new entrant to invest in this field.

BIOFERTILIZERS FROM COTTON SEED CAKE

Cotton seeds are one of the oil producing seeds. The cotton seed cake is the residue left after the extraction of cotton seed oil from the seeds. This residue is also very useful from many aspects, for producing biofertilizer it is used as an essential raw material. Now-a-days bio-fertilizers are capturing the field of chemical fertilizers due to cheap availability, low cost & no side effect on land. So the use of cotton seed cake is also increasing in bio-fertilizer industries. As the rate of use of biofertilizers is increasing the future of this industry is very bright.

POLYPHENOLS / ANTIOXIDANTS FROM TEA EXTRACTS

India is one of the leading tea producer of the world. The main constituents of tea are polyphenols, caffeine and essential oils. These all gives tea its color, taste, fragrance combined. The tannins or polyphenols are the antioxidants which can be separated from the tea easily by chromatography technique. These antioxidants help the food products, oils, rubber natural fats lubricants to retard oxidation, deterioration, rancidity and gum formation. These antioxidants have no side effects so they are used very essentially as main antioxidants in the above mentioned industries. Due to the special characteristic of polyphenols of tea, they are being produced on large scale.

Aluminium Ingots From Aluminium Scrap

The 20th century has seen the emergence of aluminium as a key industrial and strategic material, second to only steel in terms of importance and tonnages of production. Beginning with an experimental production of 1.7 tonnes in 1859, the world production of primary aluminium has grow to about 16 million tonnes in the year 1983- recording in the produces the fastest rate of growth of consumption for any metal. In todays industrial civilization, aluminium is important because it serves as a basic input for a number of industry it is indispensable for building up and strengthening the industry infrastructure in the basic sectors viz. power and transportation. Besides finding extensive use in other vital sectors like space, defence buildings, construction, domestic hard wares etc. The industry attain a quantum jump to the level of 580000 TPA. Thus, there will be a sea change in the Indian aluminium scene. From a net importer of aluminium, India will emerge as a country with surplus aluminium for some years to come until the rising demand overtake availability once again. Building and construction industry has now started evincing keep interest in the use of aluminium as it replaces wood and thereby promotes conservation of the fast depleting forest wealth of our country. The scope of the product is very bright. The new entrepreneurs may enter in this project.

COPPER FLATS AND COPPER TUBES

Copper is the most commonly used architectural metal now-a-days. Copper plays an essential role in the modern building. From recycled cladding and roofing systems, to high-tech plumbing and heating systems using the tube and fittings which are manufactured from recycled copper. Copper is a key component of many energy saving technologies. Copper is specified for use in most commercial plumbing, and is used extensively as a tubing material in HVAC systems. Copper and copper alloys constitute one of the major groups of commercial metals. They are widely used because of their excellent electrical and thermal conductivities, outstanding corrosion resistance, and ease in fabrication. In a vast country like India with large population, and positive sign of continued growth of economy and industrial activity, encouraging demand growth rate for copper and copper alloy tubes can be expected. The sectoral growth percent will vary from very high to medium. But overall the scenario appears to be bright. And we can say that the new entrepreneur can well venture into this field.

OXALIC ACID FROM MOLASSES

Oxalic acid is the simplest of dicarboxylic acid. It is commercially available as the dehydrate containing 28.5% water. It occurs naturally in many plants and can be made by alkali extraction of raw dust. It is now manufactured by reaction of sodium formate with sodium hydroxide followed by distillation of the resulting dehydrate crystals. Oxalic acid is used as a mordant in dyeing and cloth printing, in cleaning of leather, metal polishing, bleaching of straw etc. There are around 20 manufacturers of oxalic acid in the country. Present Indian demand for it is 20,000 tonnes per annum. And international demand is 0.25 million tonnes per annum. Indian oxalic acid can become globally very much competitive. It could be produced from cane molasses or sugarcane syrup. There is a good scope for any new entrepreneur.

REWINDING OF BURNT ELECTRIC MOTORS

In the case of major troubles, windings are replaced with new ones in the original pattern in order to recondition the motor, called as rewinding. Electrical & electronic industry has gathered considerable strength over past years. There are a very large number of manufacturers of induction motors up to 10HP in small scale sector. They are spread all over India and cater to equally large number of smaller tools and utility equipment manufacturers like compressors, pump sets etc. As a result of increased production of heavy machinery, requiring electric motors of very high capacities, the production of the high voltage electric motors is also substantial. This production is directly related to the production of large capacity machinery like power station pumps, cement mills, rolling mills etc. It can be concluded that there is a good scope for new entrepreneur.
