Plastics, Polymers and Resins, Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene (PS), Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), Polyester, PA, Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), Polyurethanes (PU), Polycarbonate (PC), Polyethylene (PE)Projects

Plastics have revolutionized our lives, creeping into every nook and corner of our homes and offices. However, India’s per capita consumption of plastics is still 6 kg compared to 25 kg in developed countries. Consumer plastics mainly comprise polymers such as polypropylene, high and low density polyethylene, and vinyl chloride. Broadly plastics can be classified into two types namely Thermosetting and Thermoplastic. The type of plastics includes HDPE, LDPE, PVC, PP, PS, PETE and vinyl plastics, to name a few.

The plastics industry is highly fragmented. There are about 22,000 plastic processing units, of which three-fourth are in the small –scale sector, which also accounts for a quarter of the total polymer consumption. About 30 per cent of the total polymer consumption accounts for recycled plastic. Plastics have a high volume –to-weight ratio, which makes their collection and transport a major cost factor.

The Indian plastics industry has been growing at a phenomenal rate of 15 per cent over the years. Thus its potential is being utilized properly. The boost in the plastics industry is due to the rapid growth of segments like electronics, packaging, healthcare, consumer durables and telecommunication sectors.Annually around six million tonnes of plastic is produced in the country, with the plastic packaging sector growing fastest.

Reliance Industries Ltd., Gas Authority of India and petrochemicals are major producers of polymers in India. RIL, Asia’s largest manufacturer of polypropylene with a combined capacity of over one million tonnes, holds 70 per cent market share.

India will be the third largest plastics consumer after the US and China by 2010 at over 12 million.Plastic goods consumption is expected to double in the next three years.  Experts have predicted that India’s market for finished plastic goods will reach $300 billion by 2012, while exports are expected to reach a level of $200 billion in the same period. India ranks highest in recycling of plastics with 60 per cent of plastic recycled compared with a world average of 20 per cent. Experts have estimated thatthe basic demand for plastic would be boosted over the next years by the housing, automobile and retail sectors.

PET RECYCLING - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Economics

Polyethylene terephthalate or PET (also known as PETE) is one of the most common types of plastic. Most single-serve plastic bottles, including those for water, soft drinks and juices, are made with PET. Designated by the recycling code “1”. PET-bottles have a negative impact on the environments because they are polluting soil, rivers, coastal areas, air when burned and consume a lot of landfill site space. So, it is very necessary to recycle of PET-bottles to saves 65% of the energy for primary PET-production. PET recycling is the process of reprocessing plastic that already has been used before and giving it some new reusable form. Recycled PET is converted into numerous products such as packaging applications (such as new bottles),sheet and film application, strapping, fiber applications. India produces around 500,000 tonnes of PET annually. The overall capacity of the industry is rated at about 650,000 tonnes per year. In the past, PET was subjected to high rates of duty and tax. Now the duty and taxes have been brought to the same levels as other competing materials like PVC, PP (polypropylene) and PE (polyethylene), ensuring a level playing field for PET. A market research study by GBI Research, sees Asia, including India driving the global demand for PET by 2020. India's main producer of PET containers, Pearl Polymers recorded over 6% growth in production and nearly 8.5% growth in sales of PET bottles and jars. Thus, due to demand it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest.

Helmet Manufacturing - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue

A helmet is a form of protective gear worn to protect the head from injuries. The primary goal of a motorcycle helmet is motorcycle safety-to protect the rider's head during impact, thus preventing or reducing head injury and saving the rider's life. Some helmets provide additional conveniences, such as ventilation, face shields, ear protection, intercom etc. All helmets attempt to protect the user's head by absorbing mechanical energy and protecting against penetration. Their structure and protective capacity are altered in high-energy impacts. Beside their energy-absorption capability, their volume and weight are also important issues, since higher volume and weight increase the injury risk for the user's head and neck. Anatomical helmets adapted to the inner head structure were invented by neurosurgeons at the end of the 20th century. It is estimated that, worldwide each year, 1.24 million deaths and 20 to 50 million injuries are caused by road traffic crashes. The past two decades have seen a complete transformation of motorcycles industry worldwide with demand often beating the market’s expectation. The estimated demand for helmets is around 90 millions pieces per annum while the total capacity of ISI helmets is not more than 10 million pieces. Premium motorcycles helmet are witnessing strong demand, supported by growing preference for luxury motorcycle brands and rise in the number of fashion conscious riders with high disposal incomes. Thus, due to demand it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest. Polymer Modified Bitumen

The abundance of asphalt compatible polymers now available makes it possible to improve almost every aspect of paving. It is crucial, however, that the various physical characteristics, construction constraints, and ultimate cost-benefits be understood. To this end, numerous standards for quality testing and specification are under development. Comparative polymer modified bitumen trials are currently being planned and executed in many states. Recently polymers have been used for dense- and open-graded hot mix, hot and cold recycling, hot applied and emulsion surface treatments, stress absorbing membranes, slurry seals, joint sealants, and patching materials. Increased durability, improved rutting resistance, better aggregate adhesion, improved temperature susceptibility, improved stiffness moduli, and better overall flexibility are the most beneficial characteristics of polymer modified bitumen. To meet the demands of technological and demographic changes, the use of polymer modified bitumen has become increasingly important. Increased stress on highways due to heavier loads, higher tire pressures, and ever rising traffic counts are causing premature failures. Severe climates, always a source of concern, and an increased emphasis on safety have prompted research towards the amelioration of highway paving materials. As the network of highways ages, the demand for quality maintenance and recycling products is becoming more important than that for new construction. To address these problems, the highway engineer has turned to polymer modification for custom design of pavement materials.

The adhesive industry has seen significant changes in recent years. The type and number of these changes have been astounding. They include new substrate materials, regulatory burdens, acquisitions and mergers, new raw materials, new application and curing processes, and a host of volatile technical, commercial, and political issues. Epoxy technology gives the formulator an almost unlimited number of tools to employ. The type of epoxy polymer backbone, curative, resinous modifiers, and special additives or fillers all serve as degrees of freedom available in developing an adhesive system for a given application.Epoxy adhesives are chemical compounds used to join components by providing a bond between two surfaces. They are high-performance thermosetting resins, which display a unique combination of properties. Epoxy resins have been commercially available for almost a half-century and are arguably one of the most versatile polymers with uses across an enormously wide variety of industries. Adhesive markets represent only a small percentage of the total consumption of epoxy resins. However, epoxy adhesives provide significant value added, so that their prices and profit margins are generally higher than those for other adhesive types. Epoxy adhesives represent a significant part of the overall structural adhesives market (about $1.8 billion). The main competitors to epoxy adhesives are polyurethanes; however, thermosetting acrylics and cyanoacrylate adhesives are also strong challengers in certain market segments.Although the overall annual growth rate for epoxy adhesive is in the 3 to 5 percent range, certain regional markets. Thus, due to demand it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest.
