Plastics, Polymers and Resins, Polypropylene (PP), Polystyrene (PS), Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), Polyethylene terephthalate (PET), Polyester, PA, Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), Polyurethanes (PU), Polycarbonate (PC), Polyethylene (PE)Projects

Plastics have revolutionized our lives, creeping into every nook and corner of our homes and offices. However, India’s per capita consumption of plastics is still 6 kg compared to 25 kg in developed countries. Consumer plastics mainly comprise polymers such as polypropylene, high and low density polyethylene, and vinyl chloride. Broadly plastics can be classified into two types namely Thermosetting and Thermoplastic. The type of plastics includes HDPE, LDPE, PVC, PP, PS, PETE and vinyl plastics, to name a few.

The plastics industry is highly fragmented. There are about 22,000 plastic processing units, of which three-fourth are in the small –scale sector, which also accounts for a quarter of the total polymer consumption. About 30 per cent of the total polymer consumption accounts for recycled plastic. Plastics have a high volume –to-weight ratio, which makes their collection and transport a major cost factor.

The Indian plastics industry has been growing at a phenomenal rate of 15 per cent over the years. Thus its potential is being utilized properly. The boost in the plastics industry is due to the rapid growth of segments like electronics, packaging, healthcare, consumer durables and telecommunication sectors.Annually around six million tonnes of plastic is produced in the country, with the plastic packaging sector growing fastest.

Reliance Industries Ltd., Gas Authority of India and petrochemicals are major producers of polymers in India. RIL, Asia’s largest manufacturer of polypropylene with a combined capacity of over one million tonnes, holds 70 per cent market share.

India will be the third largest plastics consumer after the US and China by 2010 at over 12 million.Plastic goods consumption is expected to double in the next three years.  Experts have predicted that India’s market for finished plastic goods will reach $300 billion by 2012, while exports are expected to reach a level of $200 billion in the same period. India ranks highest in recycling of plastics with 60 per cent of plastic recycled compared with a world average of 20 per cent. Experts have estimated thatthe basic demand for plastic would be boosted over the next years by the housing, automobile and retail sectors.

Plastic (P.V.C.) Laminated Collapsible Tubes - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities

The plastic collapsible tube is a product of daily use because every paste, like thing is packed in this tube. According to an estimate, the population of India is more than 100 crores and there are number of persons who might be using collapsible tubes in one way or the other. Once the tube has been used, it is discarded and cannot be used again; hence it is a consumable item. Plastic collapsible tubes can be beautifully printed in multi-colors which have better eye appeal. These plastic collapsible tubes are being widely used for packaging of adhesives, art colors, creams, lubricants etc. They are suitable for packaging of lotion cosmetics, tooth-pastes, shaving creams, hair cream; face cream, auto cleaners, polishes etc. There are various methods by which polythene collapsible tubes can be manufactured. One is by extruding in the form of a continuous hose like tubing which is then cut to the desired length. In another process injection mouled heads are then jointed to the tubes. Another conventional method practiced for production of collapsible tubes in Blow Molding Technique. The packaging industry is estimated at Rs 150 bn and is growing at 14-15% annually. This growth, according to industry watchers, is expected to double in the next two years. It is estimated that more than 80% of packaging in India constitutes rigid packaging, the rest being flexible. Flexible packaging includes paper, plastics (PVC, LDPE, HDPE, BOPP, polyester and poly-propylene), cloth and metal foils, especially of aluminium, besides jute and HDPE bags for bulk handling. The potential for packaging industry can be seen in the present low per capita consumption of two base materials, packaging paper and plastics. The overall growth rate of the industry has tapered off from 40% in early 1990s to around 9%. The flexible packaging industry is expected to grow at about 10-15% per annum in the coming years. Flexible Polyurethene Foam

During the past 40–50 years, foamed polymers have found increasing importance in the world market place due to the unique characteristics and properties they provide when compared to solid plastics. While most thermo sets and thermoplastics can be made in a foamed or cellular structure under certain conditions, the materials known as polyurethanes have become predominant for many applications in this field. Through the proper selection of the starting materials, foamed polyurethanes can range in characteristics from extremely soft, resilient cushioning products to very tough and rigid structural members. As varied as the products are, so too are the machines and processes used to produce them. Certain other systems, such as polyureas, are also processed with the same equipment as polyurethanes. The word polyurethane is somewhat misleading since, unlike most plastics, the final product is not made by polymerizing a monomer. Instead, the products contain a number of polyurethane groups in a complex structure that is controlled by the choice of starting materials and the production conditions. Polyurethane formulations cover an extremely wide range of stiffness, hardness, and densities. These materials include: • Low-density flexible foam used in upholstery, bedding, and automotive and truck seating • Low-density rigid foam used for thermal insulation and RTM cores • Soft solid elastomers used for gel pads and print rollers • Low density elastomers used in footwear • Hard solid plastics used as electronic instrument bezels and structural parts • Flexible plastics used as straps and bands The global polyurethane foam types are significantly penetrating their end-user industry market. These have different characteristics as per the manufacturing and their application requirement in the end products. The Asia-Pacific market is expected to dominate with its growing demand for polyurethane foams in different applications especially bedding & furniture, and building & construction. The polyurethane foam demand in terms of value and volume depicts the current and future projections according to the parallel economic and industrial outlook. This analysis covers major developments, expansions, agreements & mergers, and acquisitions of the leading global companies. As a whole it is a good project for new entrepreneurs for investment. Pencil Sharpeners (Plastic) - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue

Generally, pencil sharpeners can be classified into electric pencil sharpeners and manual pencil sharpeners. Since the electric pencil sharpeners are not frequently used for sharpening pencils, they usually keep in a standby condition, which will consume powers of the batteries and is not environment protective. Conversely, hand-cranked pencil sharpeners are in a large market demand since they do not require any power supply and are compact and portable. The pencil is inserted into the sharpener and rotated while the sharpener is held motionless. The body of the sharpener is often contoured, ridged or grooved to make the small block easier to firmly grip. In a Babcock Duplex Pencil Sharpener, the pencil is inserted into the chuck on the side of the machine. When the crank on top of the machine is turned with the right hand, the gang of six blades rotates, shaving the pencil, while the chuck holding the pencil revolves. As the cutting proceeds, the cutter is advanced toward the pencil by applying pressure on a feed bar with the left hand. The Duplex is 3” tall. Pencil sharpeners are necessary for any office that uses pencils regularly. Place a sharpener in every work area, letting the employees easily maintain their writing instruments. The Indian stationery industry is highly scattered and is largely dominated by the unorganised sector and the situation is quite alarming for the organised players industry. Factors like lack of modern production facilities, unorganised nature of functioning, marginal demands, government policies and international competition are largely contributing to the slow growth of the organised stationery industry in India. Established players are increasing their penetration by launching rural and urban-specific brands with different price tags so as to cater for both markets. The leading players are also increasing their manufacturing capacity to cater for overall growing demand for writing instruments in India. Thus it is a good project for investment.
