Food Colours, Colors, Flavours, Flavors, Gums, Stabilizers, Food Industry Ingredients, Hydrocolloids and Additives Projects

Food  colors are an important part of the food additives market. Food coloring, or color additive, is any dye, pigment or substance that imparts color when it is added to food or drink. They come in many forms consisting of liquids, powders, gels, and pastes. Food coloring is used both in commercial food production and in domestic cooking.

Being a part of the Global Food and Beverage Industry, food colors market has huge potential to grow in the emerging and developing economies such as India. Food & beverage manufacturers are resorting to natural and synthetic food colors to enhance the organoleptic appeal of the finished product.

The food colors market is growing with the increase in demand for food. The growth of the natural colors market segment depends on the consumers’ preference for natural and healthy food colors. This growth will be maintained in the future with finding new sources of raw materials, the launch of new products, and using advanced technologies for color production.

The natural food flavors, by type, has been segmented into natural extracts, aroma chemicals, essential oils, and others which include spices and fermentation. The application segment of natural food flavors includes beverages, savory & snacks, bakery & confectionery, dairy & frozen, and others which include soups, salad, condiments, dressings, and sauces.

The global food colours market is expected to witness an upsurge owing to the introduction of new food products with natural ingredients and colouring pigments. Furthermore, factors such as technological advancements, growing demand for clean label products and stringent regulations on synthetic colouring agents are influencing manufacturers to incorporate more natural colourants in their offerings. Increasing use of natural food colour by the food processing industry is a key factor driving the growth of the market. Food colors market is projected to reach $2.5 billion by 2020; growing at a CAGR of 4.5%.

Food additives are functional substances that are normally neither consumed as food itself nor are used as ingredients, but are intentionally added in food to assist to improve their certain characteristics such as aroma, colour, consistency, taste, texture and/or shelf life. Food additives are edible substances added to food products to enhance their taste, color, appearance and texture. Besides improving quality, these additives are added to prevent microbial growth and increase longevity of processed food products.

Used for enhancing quality and appearance of food products, food additives find diverse application in beverages, bakery, confectionary, dairy and meat & poultry products. Major factors driving the market include rising urban middle class population, improving living standard of consumers, growing working opportunities and increasing women workforce.

The rising population, growing demand for food, need for food preservation, growing concerns towards food safety due to contamination, rising health concerns, consumer demand for better quality, and increasing consumption of premium food products have been the important reasons driving the demand for food additives such as acids, anti-caking agents, food colors, emulsifiers and stabilizers, enzymes, flavors, preservatives, sequestrants, humectants, firming & crisping, agents, Nutritive additives, and sweeteners. Owing to this, additives have gained global importance over the years, and are being increasingly used in existing as well as new & emerging food applications.

The food additives market, in terms of value, is projected to reach USD 52.2 Billion by 2020, at a CAGR of 5.6% from 2015.

Starch, Glucose, Dextrose and Sorbitol are maize products covered in this report. The report starts with a brief on the global scenario of maize and then proceeds to analyze the Indian scenario. The report provides an overview on Maize as a crop giving information about its soil suitability, sowing seasons and the types of maize that are produced in the nation. Maize is one of the oldest cultivated crops in the world. It is also one of the most important cereal crops globally and in India it is the third most important crop after rice and wheat. The suitability of maize to diverse environments is unmatched by any other crop and even every part of the maize plant has economic value: the grain, leaves, stalk, tassel, and cob can all be used to produce a large variety of food and non-food products. As it has yield potential far higher than any other cereal, it is sometimes referred to as the miracle crop or the ‘Queen of Cereals’. It further explains the ways by which maize can be processed and the byproducts after such processes. Maize can be processed by two ways: Dry Milling and Wet Milling. Dry milling of maize produces corn meal, grits, germ and animal feed and wet milling produces starch, gluten and husk. These byproducts of maize processing are used in industries like paper, textiles, pharmaceutical and food & confectionary. Half of the maize in India is consumed as poultry feed, ~1/5 for human consumption and the rest is consumed for starch production, as cattle feed and in breweries. The report provides detailed analysis of the industry by covering areas like growth drivers, trends in the industry as well as the SWOT analysis of the industry. Growth in the consumption of maize products will be majorly driven by the starch segment. Starch industry is often termed as sunrise sector of the nation apparently because of its widespread applicability across various industries. Maize starch in India is used relentlessly in paper, textile, pharma and food industry. The growth in these consumer industries will evidently be felt in the starch sector also. Usage of corn starch bags is rising in India on the back of it being bio-degradable and hence environment friendly. They can also handle more weight and have longer shelf life. Corn starch is also being used in manufacturing of car parts to enhance the car safety aspects. Other trends are emergence of corn oil as an edible oil and also production of ethanol from corn. The report enhances your understanding of the market by giving detailed SWOT analysis. The industry’s biggest strength is the ready available market for its products. Growing population of India coupled with unavoidable usage of maize products in various industries keeps demand high. Abundant availability of its key raw material i.e. Maize in the country is an added advantage for the industry. Area under maize has grown at a CAGR of 2% during 2007-12 whereas production has grown at a CAGR of ~7.5% during the same period. Indian production of maize in 2013-14 could reach 25 million tonnes owing to adequate monsoon which may trigger higher acreage across growing states. India’s per capita consumption of starch is also very low when compared to developed economies like US and China. India with its huge population base and low consumption levels offers a massive opportunity for the starch companies to capture. And since most of the starch in India is produced by maize, maize processing companies have sufficient pie of the market to capture. Growing urbanization, changing consumer preferences and rising disposable incomes are another bunch of opportunities for the incumbents. The industry however is faced with challenges like growing competition in the sector and raw material fluctuations. The industry’s raw material being agricultural in nature is subject to price fluctuations as well as production uncertainty. Maize Starch and its by Products - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Plant Layout

Maize is one of the cereal grains which produces throughout India and is placed 3rd position in agricultural base production. Maize is constituted by hull, germ, protein, starch and moisture. There is dry and wet milling process of manufacturing of starch, zein, germ and hulls. Starch is the basic constituent of maize and it is converted to liquid glucose by adopting series of digestion steps on starch. It will be basically enzyme and acid digestion system. Pure Starches can be physically modified into various products of varied characteristics. Starch can be potentially used in large number of preparations. Its major applications are in textiles and paper manufacture and in food and pharmaceutical industries. Starch is used in the manufacture of number of products such as starch esters, starch phosphates, glucose, dextrose, sorbitol, ethyl alcohol etc. India is estimated to generate an annual demand of nearly 23 million tonne of corn by 2011-12. According to Vision 2025, released on Thursday by Indian Maize Development Association (IMDA), India's demand for maize is likely to be 22.73 million tonnes in 2011-12, out of which 19.66 million tonnes would be for non-food uses like poultry and cattle feed. However the demand supply gap for starch was so wide during those days, that almost about 45 new units came up with a large installed capacity. Many of these were very small units. The demand of starch and its allied products is increasing day by day in various segments, so for new entrepreneurs there is a good scope in this field. Guar Gum Powder Using Splits - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue

Guar is also called guaran, is a Galactomannan. It is primarily the ground endosperm of guar beans. The guar seeds are dehusked, milled and screened to obtain the guar gum. It is typically produced as a free flowing, pale, off-white colored, coarse to fine ground powder. Guar gum is water-soluble plant mucilage obtained from the grand endosperms of cyanopsis tetragonoloba, cultivated in Pakistan as livestock feed. The water-soluble portion of the flour (85%) is called `guaran' and consists of 35% galactose, 63% mannose, probably combined in a polysaccharide 5-7% protein. Approximately 90% of total Guar produce is used for production of Guar Gum and rest is used for culinary purposes and cattle feed etc. Guar gum, also called guaran, is a galactomanan. Guar gum is produced fromthe endosperm, which is about 35-42 percent of the guar seed mass, and mainly consists of gum Poly groups of monogalactoses (a type of sugar). Different grades are made based on purity and present viscosity of powers in water. Guar gum has almost 8 times the thickening power as corn starch, and is used in dressings, sauces, milk products, and baking mixes. India accounts for 80% of the total guar produced in the world and 70% is cultivated in Rajasthan. Pakistan, Sudan and parts of USA are the other major Guar growing countries. 75% of the Guar Gums or their derivatives produced in India are exported mainly to USA and European countries. The consumption pattern of guar seeds is largely influenced by the demand from the petroleum industry of the U.S. and the oil fields in the Middle East as the derivative products of these seeds are quite useful in the petroleum drilling industries. The U.S. alone constitute to around 70 thousand tonnes of guar and its derivatives demand. Also, in rest of the world, the trend of consumption has increased with time that has lead to the introduction of this crop in many countries. Germany & China account for about 24 percent of global consumption together. The export demand from India is around 2 lakh tons of Guar gum and the domestic market is of around 30,000 tons. Thus, it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest. Few Indian Major Players are as under:- Ace Gum Industries Pvt. Ltd. Hindustan Gum & Chemicals Ltd. India Glycols Ltd. Maize starch chemical formula (C6H10O5)n also know as Corn starch or flour is a fundamental ingredient in most of the packaged food and industrial products; it is extracted from the corn kernel and has a distinctive appreance and feed. Maize starch in natural, modified, pregeletanised and dextrinised forms provides viscosity, texture and other desired properties to all types of food & paper, products from canned chilled frozen to microwaveable goods, dry mixes and extruded snacks. Practically every industry in existence uses starch or its derivatives in one form or another. Maize is classified into dent, flint, waxy, sweet and pop corn categories. Dent corn also known as field corn, containing both hard and soft starch, becomes indented at maturity. Flint corn having hard, horny, rounded or short and flat kernels; with the soft and starchy endosperm is enclosed by hard outer layer. Both of these varieties are used for industrial purposes. Popcorn has small pointed and rounded kernels with very hard endosperm which on exposure to dry heat popped or evereted by the expulsion of the contained moisture and forming a White starchy mass many times the size of the original kernel. Sweet corn is distinguished by kernels containing a high percentage of sugar in the milk stage and therefore suitable for table use. Indian maize has white, red, purple, brown or multicolored kernels and is characteristically dent corn. The dent corn is useful for starch processing by wet milling method. The total area under maize cultivation in the world is 139 million hectares with a production of 598 million MT (mMT). USA is the world's largest producer and exporter of maize with an output of 240 mMT from an area of 29 million hectares. Other major producers are China (125 mMT), European Union (39 mMT), Brazil (37 mMT), Mexico (19 mMT), Argentina (14 mMT) and India (11 mMT). Due to demand growth, it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest. Few Indian Major Players are as under:- Amaravati Agro Ltd. Anil Ltd. E I C L Ltd. Gayatri Bioorganics Ltd. Maize and its By Products (Maize Starch, Modified Starches & Animal Feed)- Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study

Maize and its By Products (Maize Starch, Modified Starches & Animal Feed) Corn starch, corn flour or maize starch is the starch derived from the corn (maize) grain. The starch is obtained from the endosperm of the corn kernel. Corn starch is a popular food ingredient used in thickening sauces or soups, and is used in making corn syrup and other sugars. Starch or amylum is a carbohydrate consisting of a large number of glucose units joined by glycosidic bonds. This polysaccharide is produced by most green plants as an energy store. It is the most common carbohydrate in human diets and is contained in large amounts in such staple foods as potatoes, wheat, maize (corn), rice, and cassava. Starch is processed to produce many of the sugars in processed foods. Dissolving starch in warm water gives wheat paste, which can be used as a thickening, stiffening or gluing agent. The biggest industrial non-food use of starch is as adhesive in the paper making process. Starch can be applied to parts of some garments before ironing, to stiffen them. Maize Starch is a mixture of polysaccharides about 74% amylopectin and 26% amylose. It is a fine White Powder, odorless, taste slight and characteristic and microbiologically suitable as Pharmaceutical grade, useful in Pharmaceutical and Food Industry as a binder, thickener, disintegrating agents in tableting and various formulations. Starch derivative is a growing industry, and with technological advancements taking place, new products are being launched on a regular basis. The various stakeholders in the industry are the raw material suppliers, processors, and the product manufacturers. Starch derivatives are applied in food & beverages, feed, and non-food applications like, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, paper making, bioethanol, and other industrial applications. Asia-Pacific Holds the largest market share in the global starch derivatives market, by geography, and is also estimated to achieve the highest growth rate.
