Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Projects, Non-Durable Items, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Packaged Foods, Beverages, Toiletries, Over-the-Counter Drugs and many other Consumables

Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) goods are popularly named as consumer packaged goods. Items in this category include all consumables (other than groceries/pulses) people buy at regular intervals. The most common in the list are toilet soaps, detergents, shampoos, toothpaste, shaving products, shoe polish, packaged foodstuff, and household accessories and extends to certain electronic goods. These items are meant for daily of frequent consumption and have a high return.

The Indian FMCG sector with a market size of US$14.8 billion is the fourth largest sector in the economy. The FMCG market is set to double from USD 14.7 billion in 2008-09 to USD 30 billion in 2012. FMCG sector will witness more than 60 per cent growth in rural and semi-urban India by 2010. Indian consumer goods market is expected to reach $400 billion by 2010.Hair care, household care, male grooming, female hygiene, and the chocolates and confectionery categories are estimated to be the fastest growing segments. At present, urban India accounts for 66% of total FMCG consumption, with rural India accounting for the remaining 34%. However, rural India accounts for more than 40% consumption in major FMCG categories such as personal care, fabric care, and hot beverages. In urban areas, home and personal care category, including skin care, household care and feminine hygiene, will keep growing at relatively attractive rates. Within the foods segment, it is estimated that processed foods, bakery, and dairy are long-term growth categories in both rural and urban areas. The growing incline of rural and semi-urban folks for FMCG products will be mainly responsible for the growth in this sector, as manufacturers will have to deepen their concentration for higher sales volumes.

Major Players in this sector include Hindustan Unilever Ltd., ITC (Indian Tobacco Company), Nestlé India, GCMMF (AMUL), Dabur India, Asian Paints (India), Cadbury India, Britannia Industries, Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care, Marico Industries, Nirma,Coca-Cola, Pepsi and others. As per the analysis by ASSOCHAM, Companies Hindustan Unilever Ltd , Dabur India originates half of their sales from rural India. While Colgate Palmolive India and Marico constitutes nearly 37% respectively, however Nestle India Ltd and GSK Consumer drive 25 per cent of sales from rural India.

A rapid urbanization, increase in demands, presence of large number of young population, a large number of opportunities is available in the FMCG sector. The Finance Minister has proposed to introduce an integrated Goods and Service Tax by April 2010.This is an exceptionally good move because the growth of consumption, production, and employment is directly proportionate to reduction in indirect taxes which constitute no less than 35% of the total cost of consumer products - the highest in Asia.. The bottom line is that Indian market is changing rapidly and is showing unprecedented consumer business opportunity.

GOOD FUTURE PROSPECTS FOR ENERGY/PROTEIN BAR PROJECT - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Production Schedule

GOOD FUTURE PROSPECTS FOR ENERGY/PROTEIN BAR Good nutrition practices help to fuel physical activity, in addition to sustaining normal bodily functions and the growth, development and repair of human body tissue. For those serious about their sport or exercise it is a well-accepted concept that diet can significantly affect performance. In order to achieve the quality of your training and maximize adaptations, it is essential that you consume a diet that matches the demands placed upon the body. They are often promoted as a quick snack, a meal replacement, or a supplement for your workout. Energy bars are also an excellent method of replenishing muscle energy stores after sport. For best results eat an energy bar 30-45 minutes before a race or workout or eat small amounts during your race or ride. Energy bars are being marketed heavily and a multitude of brands are available in supermarkets, drug stores, and health food stores. Energy bars are convenient, travel well, and contains reasonable amounts of fat, saturated fat, and sodium. Many are a good source of high quality protein without the cholesterol and saturated fat of high fat animal protein sources. Energy bars are easy to bring along with you and will not melt if they are exposed to heat all day. Energy bars have been part of the outdoor scene since the Crusades in the Middle Ages-and possibly before. Crusaders tucked an energy bar called the pan forte (a mix of flour, honey, shortening, nuts, and dried fruit) into their tunics to give a lift during long marches. However nutrition experts suggest no more than two to four per day for a moderate level of activity, supplementing a diet consisting largely of whole foods, whose complex blends of vitamins and nutrients cannot be duplicated in processed foods. Energy bars: a dietary supplement? US Congress defined the term "dietary supplement" in the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994. A dietary supplement is a product taken by mouth that contains a "dietary ingredient" intended to supplement the diet. The "dietary ingredients" in these products may include: vitamins, minerals, herbs or other botanicals, amino acids, and substances such as enzymes, organ tissues, glandular, and metabolites. Dietary supplements can also be extracts or concentrates, and may be found in many forms such as tablets, capsules, soft gels, gel caps, liquids, or powders. They can also be in other forms, such as a bar, but if they are, information on their label must not represent the product as a conventional food or a sole item of a meal or diet. Whatever their form may be, DSHEA places dietary supplements in a special category under the general umbrella of "foods," not drugs, and requires that every supplement be labeled a dietary supplement. The "new dietary ingredient" in a dietary supplement? The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994 defined both of the terms "dietary ingredient" and "new dietary ingredient" as components of dietary supplements. In order for an ingredient of a dietary supplement to be a "dietary ingredient," it must be one or any combination of the substances like : ● A vitamin, ● A mineral, ● A herb or other botanical, ● An amino acid, ● A dietary substance for use by man to supplement the diet by increasing the total dietary intake (e.g., enzymes or tissues from organs or glands), or A concentrate, metabolite, constituent or extract.. Detergents are available as powder, bars and liquid. The bar market is dominated by Hindustan Lever with a share of over three-fourth swayed by its brands: Rin, Wheel, Shakti. The two together have a near 90% market with the rest coming in form players. Like Henkel SPIC. Detergent powder is used every one in the society and commercially. Detergents, as a constituent of the overall chemicals industry, accounts for a near 9% of the total demand for all chemicals estimated at around Rs 315 bn. Detergents, chemically known as alfa olefin sulphonates (AOS) are used as fabric brightening agent, anti-deposition agent, stain remover and as a bleacher. The overall market is estimated at around Rs 28 bn. A major input for the production of detergents is a petrochemical, Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB), while soaps rely more on an inorganic chemical, caustic soda, as a major input. Like toilet soaps market, detergents have also been experiencing low growth rates and these are expected to continue. Accordingly, from a close to 1.8 mn tonne market now, it is expected to cross the 2 mn barrier in 2007-08. PACKAGED DRINKING WATER, SODA WATER AND PET BOTTLES - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study,Cost of Project

Bottled water industry, colloquially called, the mineral water industry, is a symbol of new life style emerging in India. While a large segment of the population is struggling to get access to potable water supply, a new generation - especially in the urban areas - is getting accustomed to bottled water paying handsome prices. The phenomenal increase in demand for bottled water from just 2.0 mn cases in 1990-91 to 68 mn cases presently was being boosted further by the concern and need for safe drinking water. What is amazing is that people are prepared to pay Rs 10 for a litre of simple water - especially when the cost of material input is negligible. The cost of packaging can be as high as 15% to 35% of the price of the product. The bottled water market is growing at a rapid rate of around 20% a year (down from 50 to 60%). At this growth rate, the Rs 7000 mn per year market is estimated to overtake the soft drinks market soon. Multinationals, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Nestle and others are trying to grab a significant share of the market. There are more than 180 brands in the unorganised sector. The small players account for nearly 19% of the total market. Nevertheless, per capita consumption of bottled water in India is less than half a litre per year, compared to 111 litres in France and 45 litres in the US. This points to the future potential beyond the high growth. The premium bottled water market in India has brands like Evian, San Pelligrino, Perrier, priced between Rs 80 and Rs 110 per litre. The other segment is essentially purified water priced low at about Rs 10 a litre. It is crowded with numerous brands like Bisleri, Kinley, Aquafina, Himalaya, Hello. The government decided towards end of the year 2000 to bring about stringent guidelines for packaged water. All companies were made to sell their products only under the BIS (Bureau of Industrial Standards) certification mark. The BIS certification was made mandatory for the segment from April 1, 2001. The bottled water is to be classified as "food" and has been brought under the Prevention of Food Adulteration Act. They would have to adhere to rules pertaining to colour, odour, taste, turbidity, total dissolved solids and aerobic microbial count. Soda water is nothing but mixture of purged carbon dioxide at above atmospheric pressure in certain packaged material. It may be PET or glass bottle. Introduction of PET bottle is modern plastic packaging material. It is eco-plastic which can be converted to clay. All the three projects in a single unit have good scope. CANNED FOODS CHOPPED TOMATOES, CHEEKED BEANS AND MUSHROOMS - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study

Most bacteria, yeasts and molds are difficult to remove from food surfaces. Washing fresh food reduces their numbers only slightly. Peeling root crops, underground stem crops, and tomatoes reduces their numbers greatly. Blanching also helps, but the vital controls are the method of canning and making sure the recommended research-based process times, are used. There are few vegetables that better mark the sweet juiciness of vine-ripened tomato. Tomatoes have fleshy internal segments filled with slippery seeds surrounded by a watery matrix. The healthy good looks of a fresh, red ripe tomato are not just skin deep. The tomatoes, for canning, should be moderately large, with a smooth surface to enable easy peeling, evenly ripened to the stem end with a red colour, and posses a large proportion of solid matter of good colour & flavour. Mushroom is an excellent source of protein, in addition to having a delicious taste. Hence, considerable advancement has been made in the cultivation, harvesting, storage, transportation, and market distribution of mushroom, besides developments in its processing. In India, mushroom is canned for the purpose of export. The domestic market is also picking up gradually. Mushroom is canned in the form of buttons, slices, stems and pieces; or as chopped, diced or fine cuts. Bean is highly variable species with a long history. Beans are a legume and thus acquire their nitrogen through an association with nitrogen-fixing bacteria. The beans are smooth, plump, kidney-shaped, up to 1.5 cm long, range widely in color, and are often mottled in two or more colors. There is good export as well as domestic prospects for the canned foods. New entrepreneur enter in this project will be successful. Few Indian Major Players are as under: Agro Dutch Inds. Ltd.
