Export Oriented Units, Projects (100% EOU)

The Export Oriented Unit (EOU) Scheme, which had been introduced in the early 1980s remains in the forefront of country’s export production schemes. The main objectives of the EOU scheme is to increase exports, earn foreign exchange to the country, transfer of latest technologies stimulate direct foreign investment and to generate additional employment. The scheme has witnessed many changes over the last twenty-four years in the context of ever changing economic realities. However, the basic premise remains the same. This premise is that the exporters are treated as a special class and given the required tariff, non-tariff and policy support to facilitate their export efforts. Thus, today the EOU Scheme has emerged as a dynamic policy initiative facilitating the exporting community in the task of increased exports. The EXIM Policy, 2002-07 reinforces the importance of Scheme in chapter 6 of the policy. Appendix 14 I of the Handbook of procedures (Vol.1) as amended upto 28- 1-2004 sets out the procedures and benefits of this scheme.

The 100% EOUs fall into 3 categories:

(a) EOUs established anywhere in India and exporting 100% products except certain fixed percentage of sales in the Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) as may be permissible under the Policy.

(b) Units in Free Trade Zones in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and exporting 100% of their products.

(c) EOUs set up in Software Technology Parks (STPs) and Electronic Hardware Technology Parks (EHTPs) of India for development of Software & Electronic Hardware.

Major Sectors in EOUsare:

  1. Granite

  2. Textiles / Garments

  3. Food Processing

  4. Chemicals

  5. Computer Software

  6. Coffee

  7. Pharmaceuticals

  8. Gem & Jewellery

  9. Engineering Goods

  10. Electrical & Electronics

  11. Aqua & Pearl Culture

To set up an EOU for the following sectors, an EOU owner needs a special license. EOUs can be set up anywhere in the country and may be engaged in the manufacture and production of software, floriculture, horticulture, agriculture, aquaculture, animal husbandry, pisciculture, poultry and sericulture or other similar activities. Apart from local zonal office and state government, setting up of an EOU is also strictly guided by the environmental rules and regulations.

Automatic Packaged Drinking Water - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Plant Layout

It is needless to mention that water, a compound of Hydrogen and Oxygen is a precious natural gift which is very essential for survival of mankind including animals. The water used for potable purposes should be free from undesirable impurities. The water available from untreated sources such as Well, Boreholes and spring is generally not hygienic and safe for drinking. Thus it is desirable and necessary to purify the water and supply under hygienic conditions for human drinking purpose. Packaged drinking water uses water from any source which has to be treated and disinfected, a process that could involve filtration, UV or ozone treatment or reverse osmosis (RO) before it is fit for human consumption. The mineral water is the purified water fortified with requisite amounts of minerals such as Barium, Iron, Manganese, etc which can be absorbed by human body. It is either obtained from natural resources like spring and drilled wells or it is fortified artificially by blending and treating with mineral salts. The mineral water shall be manufactured and packed under hygienic conditions in properly washed and cleaned bottles in sterilized conditions. Packaged waters, which can be spring or mineral waters or bottled tap waters, form an increasingly utilized source of drinking-water in both developed and developing countries. Because of extreme variation in the mineral composition of marketed bottled waters, with levels of total dissolved solids ranging from almost zero to several thousand milligrams per liter and with a similar variation in concentrations of essential elements, the public should have access to information on the mineral composition of bottled or packaged water. Different materials are used for the packaging of bottled water: glass; plastic (PVC and PET). These packaging have different shapes, colours and capacities. They are an essential part of the bottled water marketing. In some cases, it is even possible to recognize the brand of the bottled water only thanks to the shape and colour of its packaging. Masala Powder - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Economics

Spices are non-leafy parts (e.g. bud, fruit, seed, bark, rhizome, bulb) of plants used as a flavoring or seasoning, although many can also be used as a herbal medicine. A closely related term, ‘herb’, is used to distinguish plant parts finding the same uses but derived from leafy or soft flowering parts. The two terms may be used for the same plants in which the fresh leaves are used as herbs, while other dried parts are used as spices, e.g. coriander, dill. Spices are no longer regarded as wonders of medicine, but they still play an important part in the manufacture of many cosmetics and perfumes and are grown commercially for their coloring and preservative properties. Nutmeg and mace are no longer the main crops of the Moluccas, but instead are grown on a large scale on the West Indian island of Grenada. Cloves, however, still come from Madagascar and Zanzibar-names that are still evocative and romantic and hint strongly of spices. Spices can be aromatic or pungent in flavors and peppery or slightly bitter in taste. In order to keep their fragrance and flavor intact, they are generally added in the cooking recipes at the last moments since, prolonged cooking results in evaporation of essential oils. Spices are being used in the preparation of season soups, barbecue sauces, pickling and as a main ingredient in a variety of curry powders.Spices along with some seasonal herbs are being used to enhance the flavor and taste of vegetable, chicken, fish and meat dishes. BLOOD BAGS - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Economics

Blood bag is a disposable bio-medical device used for collection, storage, transportation and transfusion of human blood and blood components. The system consists of a single or multiple bag connected with tubings, needle, needle cover, clamp etc. The Blood Bags are made of plastic-material, which are compatible with blood. The introduction of flexible PVC bags for the storage of blood and its components totally replaced the use of glass bottles because of its numerous advantages. Blood bags enable better separation of blood components in a more sterile manner and safer transfusion of components. This has led to increasingly wider use of blood component therapy than whole blood use, thus enabling more effective use of the scarce donor blood that is available. Blood Bags can successfully replace the use of glass bottles for collection storage, transportation and transfusion of blood and blood components since bottles require exhaustive cleaning, rinsing and autoclaving procedures and there are chances of breakage at any stage. Further, use of disposable bags eliminates the possibility of any contamination. Blood bags contain an anticoagulant solution and a red blood cell preservative solution, and are used in blood banks which both collect donor blood and separate blood components. Blood bags are made from imported, medical grade PVC granules & sheets in Class 10000 Clean room environments. Increase in the healthcare facilities will further act as a driver for the growth of medical devices sector in India. The blood bag market is expected to grow further in the coming years owing to continuous developments and rising demand for better blood collection technology. As a whole it is a good project for new entrepreneurs to invest.

Maize Processing (Glucose, Sorbitol and Oil) - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities

Glucose is a monosaccharide (or simple sugar) also known as grape sugar, blood sugar, or corn sugar, is a very important carbohydrate in biology. The living cell uses it as a source of energy and metabolic intermediate. Glucose is one of the main products of photosynthesis and starts cellular respiration in both prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea) and eukaryotes (animals, plants, fungi, and protists). Sorbitol, also known as glucitol, is a sugar alcohol, which the human body metabolizes slowly. It can be obtained by reduction of glucose, changing the aldehyde group to a hydroxyl group. Most sorbitol is made from corn syrup, but it is also found in apples, pears, peaches, and prunes. It is synthesized by sorbitol-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, and converted to fructose by succinate dehydrogenase and sorbitol dehydrogenase. Succinate dehydrogenase is an enzyme complex that participates in the citric acid cycle. Corn oil (maize oil) is oil extracted from the germ of corn (maize). Its main use is in cooking, where its high smoke point makes refined corn OIL a valuable frying oil. It is also a key ingredient in some margarines. Corn oil is generally less expensive than most other types of vegetable oils. The corn contains corn oil 2.8% by weight. Corn oil is also a feedstock used for biodiesel. Other industrial uses for corn oil include soap, salve, paint, rust proofing for metal surfaces, inks, textiles, nitroglycerin, and insecticides. It is sometimes used as a carrier for drug molecules in pharmaceutical preparations. A large part of the demand for starches arises from the paper, textile, construction and pharmaceutical industries. Their use in foods is growing at a low rate. Thus, due to demand it is a good project for entrepreneurs to invest. Barley Malt - Manufacturing Plant, Detailed Project Report, Profile, Business Plan, Industry Trends, Market Research, Survey, Manufacturing Process, Machinery, Raw Materials, Feasibility Study, Investment Opportunities, Cost and Revenue, Plant Economics

Barley Malt is germinated cereal grains that have been dried in a process known as "malting". The grains are made to germinate by soaking in water, and are then halted from germinating further by drying with hot air. Malting grains develop the enzymes required to modify the grain's starches into sugars, including the monosaccharide glucose, the disaccharide maltose, the trisaccharide maltotriose, and higher sugars called maltodextrines. Barley Malt also contains small amounts of other sugars, such as sucrose and fructose. Barley Malted grain is used to make beer, whisky, malted shakes, malt vinegar, confections such as Maltesers and Whoppers, flavored drinks such as Horlicks, Ovaltine and Milo, and some baked goods, such as malt loaf, bagels and rich tea biscuits. Malted grain that has been ground into a coarse meal is known as "sweet meal". Various cereals are malted, though barley is the most common. Malting is the process of converting barley or other cereal grains into malt, for use in brewing, distilling, or in foods and takes place in a maltings, sometimes called a malthouse, or a malting floor. Out of the total production of 14.5 lakh MT in the country hardly 10% is used for Malt production. About 5-10% is reportedly used for human consumption and about 4-5% is retained by the farmers as seed. The large quantity of remaining barley is used as feed for the animals. Zarda is a mixture of tobacco, lime, spices, and occasionally, silver flakes is also added to pan and chewed. The tobacco industry is one of the most profitable industries in the world. Tobacco companies use their enormous wealth and influence both locally and globally to market their deadly products. Even as advocacy groups and policy makers work to combat the tobacco industry’s influence, new and manipulative tactics are used by tobacco companies and their allies to circumvent tobacco control efforts. It is important for tobacco control advocates to know which companies are present in their country, how and where they operate, the types and quantity of products sold, and marketing tactics used to sell tobacco products. By being informed about all aspects of the tobacco industry within a country, advocates are better equipped to fight for effective tobacco control policies. Smokeless tobacco is consumed without burning the product, and can be used orally or nasally. Oral smokeless tobacco products are placed in the mouth, cheek or lip and sucked (dipped) or chewed. Tobacco pastes or powders are used in a similar manner and applied to the gums or teeth. Fine tobacco mixtures are usually inhaled and absorbed in the nasal passages.
