1              OVERVIEW

 

Indian packaging industry has seen steady growth strides in the last few years and is all set to hit to next growth wave on the back of technological advancements and evolving consumer dynamics. Packaging can be basically classified either on the basis of end product or on the basis of end users.

The chart below will illustrate the classification of packaging industry in India.

In this report we cater to flexible packaging segment of the Indian packaging industry. The overall packaging industry is dominated by rigid packaging, however changing consumer dynamics and growth of the user industries has led to a spurt in flexible packaging usage. Flexible packaging has grown to capture ~30% of the total packaging industry.

Flexible packaging consists of multi-layer laminated sheets of various packaging materials like plastic (PVC, LDPE, HDPE, BOPP, BOPET), paper, woven fabrics or metal foils that may be used separately or in combination for serving several packaging purposes.
